i should also say that i've lived in LA long enough where i remember being able to go for weeks if not months without there being a dj booked in town that could draw 500 people. Before Giant there were no weekly parties booking top talent regularly. And it was only until a couple of years ago that both Giant and Avalon were able to coexist with enough customers. Spundae tried competing against Giant not too long ago and couldn't make it work due to not enough people going to their events.

We must live in different LAs because I've been clubbing since 99 and I usually haven't had any problems finding good events to go to. Maybe a dry spell here and there but that's about it.

In terms of LA vs SF, SF hands down. I'm happy to live and club here in LA and while we might get more top talent on a given weekend, SF gets solid bookings and the crowd and vibe are way better than LA. We've been going to SF regularly lately and always have such a positive experience up there. They really do have something good going on up there. And the SFTA's are cool as hell.

London, ehhh not so much. But European cities in general tend to have better/fresher bookings and overall better parties because a big bulk of the talent still comes from there. Which, imo, is a bit unfortunate. We shouldn't be so dependent on foreign talent..."produce baby, produce"? lulz

Also, the laws regarding nightlife in Europe are way better than they are anywhere in America, that's just a fact of life.

Guess I can throw in my 2 cents.

I've been clubbing for quite some time now and I remember when LA clubs would get packed every freakin week just by having local DJs play. We didn't need some international DJ or a DJ from another state to pack the house.

Never met you nchs09 but this "gimp" has been clubbing and attending music events for 20 years and have traveled all over europe numerous times.

I said LA is one of the most important cities not the best or my favorite. For example look at the NYE lineups in LA (and at numerous venues) the past couple of years and name other cities that have staged anything comparable?

Personally I am not a fan of the LA clubs at all but I have to respect the talent that they attract. How can you not?

In the end it is all subjective.

+1
There was nothing before Giant. Remember...even the good days at Spundae (Circus) It was Spundae and Giant doing the night.
A lot of the bigger names were playing raves.
Don't you just love Diggers in "Groove."

a bigger venue with a bigger crowd only takes more work to accomplish than what i support here if they are operating at the same level of professionalism and efficiency or better. if they have twice as big a crowd and it takes twice as long to get everyone inside, then they aren't really doing anything special are they? i'm not impressed by how door staffers twiddle their thumbs up front waiting for people to slip them extra money to get in at a reasonable time.

I hope you are not suggesting that this happens at Vanguard, considering nobody can see the line It might happen at the front door promoters, but this never happens with the Giant line.
