When I DJ and people say "do you have like some hip-hop/R&B rather than this Techno", I go "yeah, I've got some hip hop, like radiohead or some R&B, like metallica?"

Good one, but I'll bet the joke goes right over their heads, right?

If EDM and clubs is so important to you, then move to somewhere that has loads of it, like California.

Forgive me for correcting you, but that should read: "..., like LA, San Diego, or San Francisco, California." The rest of the state only listens to the likes of Fallout Boy, Spank It! At the Disco, and Mudvayne, oh yeah, and they refer to trance and house as "techno."

you're absolutely right, but three major cities that make up a large portion of the population of a state, that all have thriving EDM scenes 'aint bad. In fairness I still got the techno question in bars in LA (they must be in town from the Burbs.... )

Agreed. But, I'm confident that Obama's new administration and policies will open America's borders to EDM. I've been lobbying hard for that Secretary of Trance nomination, but I hear that Barack is leaning toward Sara Palin because of her extensive foreign policy experience (i.e., she can hear Russian and Canadian trance from Alaska).

You know what annoys me?

Ever since power tools, wood, concrete, and autocad were available for download to the general public, EVERYONE wants to be an engineer.

Everyone is getting signed by engineering firms because of this.

screw the democritization of wood, tools, auto cad and concrete. It's so easy to be an engineer these days it doesn't take hard work or studying now.

There is no originality, everyone's a conformist to physics. Why don't people say "screw you" to physics and make bridges out of water?

When everything is infested by britney spears and kanye west there is any room for a sean tyas or glen morisson

Haha, where I live there isn't any good music on the radio ever. The big events here are trash, because they're infested with people who aren't there for the music at all, they're just there to pick up, get trashed and spend a day in the sun. We do have a lot of small nights, which are excellent, and the people at them tend to know their music. But theres probably only a few thousand people in the whole of sydney who really get dance music. I don't think its much better anywhere else though. Europe also has some issues, although it might be slightly better in places like Berlin, London and Amsterdam. But its a mistake to assume that those three cities are representative of the whole of europe.

The reason why you probably aren't seeing dance music in your city is that your looking for trance which doesn't really exist anymore. Anyone who bills their events as trance over here is just making life difficult for themselves. Go take a look at some other EDM, like deep/tech/prog house, techno or prog.

I show people and they love it but, nowhere around is playing it or if they are, people are not hearing about it. Its, like it is underground in my area, when in fact I have loved trance music for a long time and know that worldwide it is not underground, its just no one around here knows it. America these days don't hear about things like this from the outside world except what the news shows, and thats for sure not trance music. Its the failed policies of Bush. <----but, thats a whole new topic. I hope that things will change and people around here will be more open to the outside world, cause I for one love it. Thats why I'm addicted to the net, and this forum, because I do see the outside world but, everyone else that I know, is in their hunky dory American life. I wish to go to Amsterdam or Rotterdam and go to some real events but, I can't leave my family behind.... So I sit here trying to make trance music that hopefully other like minded people will like.

Dance music is underground everywhere! Thats why its actually good, and not so much corrupted by the ridiculous commerciallness of rock or pop! The only exceptions are probably mainland europe and maybe south america. But the dance music you'd hear in mainland europe would be awful cheesy eurodance anyway. From what I've seen over there.

You guys have some really funny ideas about what things in the rest of the world are like

The most irritating thing is when some random guy in school takes my earpiece and catches me listening to some trance.

So that guy would say "You listen to this kind of music ar? very techno leh".

These sentences ruins my day.

Things that annoy me:

Logic Pro has NO trouble-shooting section in it's 1400+ pages of jargon manual
Logic Pro has NO professionals to help except on apple.com & logicprohelp.com which are full of third-party people who are not affiliated with Logic Pro
Logic Pro spontaneously quits, refuses to save, or finds new bugs that when I show to everyone else they say "wow I've never seen that before"
