hey, i respect oakie to the fullest extent. if you don't like him, i could understand, but you cannot deny the man. the essential mix world tour is one of the most amazing trance acts ever to happen.
even though i dont like his new style, dissapointing me with some tracks like southern sun, to me oakenfold will always be one of the very best in the world. we all talk shit and call him a sellout, say he did sell out, if any of us were offered a buttload of cash to do something we can do, we would just pass it up?
musicians are businessmen, and a business is about pleasing the customer, and oakie has done that various times in the past, and now has decided to take a new approach. he is going into uncharted territory, why is that a bad thing. he happens to be making money off it, well thats just too bad...
just because he's on mtv and more 'mainstream' people are going to buy it, oh, i get it, since you're an elite super uber tranceaddict, it is below your standards, oh you're so cool, i wanna be like you when i grow up...
and becuase he is on mtv he is mainstream, mtv 2 even. Mudvayne won the last MTV II video music award for their video 'dig'. if you dont know who they are, just download the song. if you call that mainstream, go to an ear doctor. mtv 2 was created so not mainstream acts could get some air time. maybe thats not what has happened, but hell, itd be great for all good trance producers to get some airtime, reach all their fans all over the world. if trance was a worldwide thing, maybe it would even reach my country and id get to see a show every now and then...
remember, no one is forcing you to like him, but if you don't, that doesn't mean he's bad. and we're ones to talk, like we're such great producers and DJs. the man is getting down, doing his thing, no one can blame him for that. that hes rolling in big money for it, well now what is the point of selling songs? if ANY musician (all the way from U2 to PVD) was in it just for the music, CDs would be, what, a dollar a piece, just to cover the material used for the recordings. and the RIAA and other bastardly evil association would also die. so the bottom line is, and musician that sells CDs is also a sell out if you want to call them that. if everyone on this earth lothed trance in general, not even half of you oakie bashers would listen to it.
so.... JUST SHUT UP!
