And to think some of the greatest old trance songs we know and love came from dudes that only had those resources at their disposal! Maybe a drum machine or two, an older sequencer (either hardware or software based), one nice synth they knew through and through, and a mixer for the final mixdown to tape.

Today we have SOO many rediculous options for sound sources it's hard to see the forest. Creative exercises like this are just what we need to refresh the mind. It's actually very typical that people get lost when given too many options. Not just in music production, but with anything.

Lots of good sounding stuff so far.

Yea in terms of production I have pretty much limited myself to Albino 3. It beats feeling like you have to throw everything and the kitchen sink into your productions.

Technically this exercise was actually more tools than I normally use on a given track!

LOL, don't worry, mines going to sound crap. I'll hopefully upload it by the end of the week. But just doing it is definately well worth the effort. Good to have the "who cares what it sounds like" mentality before even starting a track, takes the pressure off and lets creativity in.

I'm def down for future challenges like this one!

Even if I dont finish this one, I will still post it, so people can hear what Gladiator can do. So far I made every sound with it, including percussion. No samples.

After this, I'm thinking about doing it again with another synth. This is def a great excercise, I can already see improvements in my skill, I never really attempted to make my own drum sounds, besides the kick. Good stuff

Here is what I got so far, using only Gladiator synth for all sounds including drums. No samples.
