Of course not everyone is going to be please.

No matter what the lineup is a group of people would complain.

If it's this or that DJ, it's the same DJ every time.
If it's this other DJ or act, oh they are doing the same thin every time.
If it's this other DJ, I didn't like him one time.

That's fine. It's your fault for getting yourself so amped up for the lineup announcement.

You have to understand that so much goes on to when booking these events. And sometimes it's just NOT POSSIBLE to get all the top acts that maybe you all want to see. Maybe there are other politics involved.

And don't even compare it to LA events...which are much easier to organizer from start-to-finish from all accounts I've gathered over the years. It's all stuff that would take a lot of detail to explain and I don't feel like it...but yeah, it's seems much easier to get events organized in LA (and dealing with the city intself amonth other things)

****PLEASE FORGIVE THE FOLLOWING CAUSE I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!! AND REMEMBER, IT"S OF MY OWN F'N ACCORD****

Bigperf....stop pissing everywhere. It's getting old very fast. For everyone. Thank you, good night.

this reminds of of the EDC thread when not everybody liked our lineup. the tables have turned?

make that two of us. I guess last year's lineup spoiled me, but still I was expecting at least a little more than that

You are correct!!!

We don't get the big names as often/at good venues, and when we do, it's one artist at a time, $40-80 per show for a single big headliner. Out here, we see the big west coast events as a chance to experience it all at once at better venues for comparable prices with more people. So yes, I am disappointed.

But I'm still excited to see the trance artists who're going to be there-- I'm a trancehead through and through-- and it'll be a great night anyway. Also very excited for the day parade, because there's nothing like it anywhere else in the country. The parade makes it still worthwhile.

Yeah... sorry that your first LoveFest/Parade/Evolution is not up to par, but remember that its the day party/parade that makes this thing possible. There are still some great events going on through out the city.

Personally, I like the "smaller" lineup. Easier to manage. More personal. The DJ's will be a little bit more "human". I suggest that some of you take the time to meet some of them and show em what the west coast edm scene is all about.

Great point. That was when A&B and B&J weren't as big as they are now so I do think back to that night from time to time and realize what a treat that was. A&B dropped Alone Tonight for the first time that night, I believe. After the sideroom, we made our way to the main stage to catch Ferry, but the vibe just wasn't the same, even though I'm a big fan.

Depending on how they structure the party/lineup, I'm looking forward to JOC/Menno/Andy Moor.

Of course, the party during the day will be tons of fun.

Line ups not really my cup of tea, but I applaud Skills/Spundae for not sticking to the same(Ferry,Armin,CL,etc..) DJ's this year. Nice to see house in the main room too.

bottom line, the discussion here will be about the lack of "top 20" acts...

i guess being 21+ and living in SF i get spoiled with the opportunities to see those top headliners, and when i do it's full sets in the clubs. so i get my fix of that there.

of course i can understand massives being great bang for the back and helping you to cross off your checklist of dj mag's top 20 before the year is over (only for it to arbitrarily get changed around the next year), but i'll actually look forward to this line up as an opportunity to see things changed up, change my own expectations, maybe have skills/spundae try a different setup, different lighting, different crowd experience, etc. people flying into SF might not feel the same and still want the bang for the buck, but i hope its the whole day or weekend that you are coming in for. and actually, i think the middle of this line-up is very solid and might surprise some people.

and honestly, i enjoy it more when i walk away from big events like this being able to talk about how an act surprised me and exceeded my expectations, almost discovering or rediscovering the acts. those are always the more interesting follow-up conversations too. with the "top 20" the conversations just end up being "wow, tiesto really is god... meh, that dj's set was better at EDC... this was better than last year at ruby skye... wow, that's the third time he's disappointed... yay, he finally redeemed himself"

i dont think this is a bad lineup. i like Deadmaus and JOC. I've just never seen Armin live before and was really2 hoping to see him here. I guess I can catch him at Monster, but Ferry is @ Ruby the night before. I don't know if I can leave Ruby at 4 and then catch the flight at 10:30 to LA @_@

That is true, but to be fair, it's seems that there are more people that are disappointed than those that are happy, and I think that's a rough reflection of the lineup quality.

From having AvB, ATB, and A&B last year to... Deadmau5 and Groove Armada (DJ SET nonetheless) is quite a big change I think. Don't get me wrong I like Deadmau5, JOC and Menno, but this lineup is nothing compared to AvB + ATB + A&B.

If one of these would have just shown up (wasn't ATB gonna show up?) I think there would have been more happy people than disappointed people... which is always better.

ok just my $0.2

If the side room is trance this year, another benefit is that these lesser known DJs will also get more prime slots in the night.

If it was mainly focused on trance with a big trance headliner or two, people like Jon O'bir, JOC, Menno, etc would end up stuck with super early time slots for the night. They wouldn't be able to let loose.

I, for one, simply would prefer the tickets to be cheaper....i mean come on will it always be a cash party @ the afterparty?

It has very little to do with LA itself, but using their massive events as an example. Those events are staged at event centers, venues, whatever you want to call it. Basically there's a formula to how an event is executed whether it's a music event, a convention, sporting event, etc. All of that is more so depended on the promoter and venue's management.

Lovevolution the parade and festival requires the city itself, its epic business center, the management levels of the police, fire and medical, the approval of local businesses and the cooperation of the surrounding buildings such as Bill Graham, City Hall, a historic museum and our public library, the department of traffic, etc.

It's a bureaucracy, not only does that have to be all green lights, but the nightlife industry has to be on the same page as well.

Our formula drastically changes year to year; police captains change, venue management changes, departments change so our event starts from scratch almost every year.

People are so worried about the lineup, they forget there are far more important things like the safety of the people who are attending and the safety of the people who will happen to be there but don't give a shit (like a family visiting from the suburbs wondering wtf is going on)
