We may not control what DJs play but we do have a voice and its up to the DJs and producers to listen. There are many DJs and producers that are on these forums so they can make decision on what to play and produce by what we say.

If DJs and producers want to become big time they have to play and produce tracks that are popular....unfortunately, the majority of club goers are the ones who follow the fads in music and may not really care to look any deeper then "I heard this on the radio so its awesome and popular". The producers are producing similar tracks to something that was big on the radio and the DJs are playing tracks that sound similar to ones played on the radio....all in an attempt to keep the fad music lovers happy.

I would assume because you haven't been listening to them for as long, or as frequently. Though that's just a guess, seeing as how I don't know the actual numbers.

I believe that there is some truth to the declining quality hypothesis, but the arguments that would support it (i.e. lower barriers to entry) would apply to all genres. If I have one major criticism of trance, it's that it's become stagnant, not necessarily worse.

At first I thought it was just me, but then I hear the conversation EVERYWHERE...in person, on forums, in clubs, etc.....

Well of course. Everybody has the same honeymoon-stage experience, and everybody has a tendency to project their own feelings onto the outside world and believe that vague emotions represent hard facts. If they like a tune, it must be a great tune. If they don't, it's crap. Human nature.

I would rather go to one of those parties twice a year...... then go to some of the weak ass attempts at a party NYC has, every weekend.
