I would assume because you haven't been listening to them for as long, or as frequently. Though that's just a guess, seeing as how I don't know the actual numbers.
I believe that there is some truth to the declining quality hypothesis, but the arguments that would support it (i.e. lower barriers to entry) would apply to all genres. If I have one major criticism of trance, it's that it's become stagnant, not necessarily worse.

Well of course. Everybody has the same honeymoon-stage experience, and everybody has a tendency to project their own feelings onto the outside world and believe that vague emotions represent hard facts. If they like a tune, it must be a great tune. If they don't, it's crap. Human nature.
