I agree, and my thoughts are based off people I actually know rather than people I've seen in a club who looks the part. With that said, it's almost impossible not to draw certain conclusions - accurate or otherwise - from how someone looks. We all do it, no matter how hard we try not to.

I pretty much agree with you, but still I prefer to take people as individuals and not based on appearance, and that was my only point. And also that it seems that the appearance triggers homophobic responses in a lot of people here.

The 'have cake and eat' remark is the most cleverly-put reason to hate hipsters ive heard in a while.

Of course. I try to limit my doing so if I catch myself in the process though. There's always someone out there to defy any stereotype in existence...

People still think I listen to Nirvana because of the way I dress, it's rather amusing.

Baggy pants + plaid shirt/loose T-shirt = Everyday Lira

Of course I cannot understand a lot of hipster writings. It's too artsy fartsy, unclear, and filled with too much obfuse terms. It's their fault I cannot understand what they are trying to say.

I will say that I agree with System-J. You can derive many things through how a person chooses their outward appearance. You cannot draw conclusions, only assumptions.

And yes, I agree that you should judge individuals on their own merits. I judge individuals who adhere to hipster/bohemian culture.

I don't care about some trendy young kid who doesn't adhere to hipster culture other than their fashion. I'm fine with that.

What I have is a problem with the hipster/bohemian culture, along with the snarky, and contradictory attitude towards us "normmies." gentrification, and getting salty over guys who were fighting in Vietnam are just some exaples. They're just a bunch of spoiled brats who think they know the world. And BTW, Che was a horrible person. And he would've killed you for buying a shirt of his face at the local Che-mart.

It's my trademark! Flannel shirts are very handy when you drive an old car without an air conditioner

(and they also protect me from the sunlight)

Yeah, but the private language argument (and Wittgenstein) are not hipster at all

i will admit that i don't understand W at times, and then sometimes i think i do understand him and think that what he's saying is so simple, then i look at myself and say, "no, it can't be that simiple. so yes, i do not know what i'm talking about when i write about W and you are right about that.

but yeah, that post was a jab at how confusing the hipster side of hipster writings are, not about Wittgenstein . the formula seems to be:

1.gather random french terms
2.talk about feminism or something
3.quote big name thinkers
4.write confusingly
5.???
6.Profit

My W reference was to #3.

You seem to be equating hipsters with humanities grad students or something. Writing about Foucault or Nietzsche does not make someone a "hipster."

You are right, but you have to admit that Foucault and Nietzsche are hipster rockstars. You will randomly hear a hipster talk about Nietzsche in order to "keep up with the Jones'" in Williamsburg, along with random bands no one has heard of.
