So my answer is: Piknic is an outside, day time, family event. So it shouldn't be otherwise just so you can save a few bucks on a beer. And that if you drink moderatly and not like a fucking pig, then you shouldn't see such a huge difference on your wallet to have a few beers.

It should be an overall sober day and they should also be much more strict on drug surveillance.

I think this is what we'll end up with. Stricter controls on booze and drugs and more alcohol revenue to boot. You clean it up and you keep the festival.

Drunkards are more annoying than the high folks anyways.

Your answer is what stupid people made of it and what the event as become. And now that everybody doesn't know how to behave, then block out the families. Do a 18+ so people can get fucked up and save on beer.

What about if that wasn't the first initial goal of this organization?

I actually think it's a beautiful thing that kids and families can spend the day there. And that if you don't put the kid 3 feet away from the speaker, it's quite nice and you have all evening and all week-end to get fucked up in 100 different ways and place.

And btw 2 guys making out is not worst or better than 2 straights making out. Were not in the 50's.

You have to ask yourself: realistically speaking, do you really think disallowing people to bring their own drinks is going to make Piknik more family friendly? Not a chance!

Maybe drunkards are more annoying to you, but ask the people who bring their kids to Piknik whether people who drink or people who do drugs are more annoying to them?

Times I've been I haven't really seen that many kids, at least in the mosh pit areas.

but who said that you are right about this? That this concept was a good idea from the getgo? Just check the comments in this thread!!

This has never been a family piknic even if that's what the organizers made it out so that they can get a permit.

Let's not kid ourselves here. EDM music + BYOB + drugs is far from being a family setting.

The crew has to assume it's initial choices and pisses off alot of their clientele or just change to a more honnest formula.

Totally right.

I can't understand how parents would take their children to this.

Going every Sunday is no longer an option. I'd spend more than twice of what I would've spend normally. 70$+ every weekend? ouch

like everyone said, lets wait till this press release so we have the real info

but as mentioned before, i think many people now will pick and choose to go to certain events, not make it a weekly or bi-weekly thing, most of the piknic crowd isnt your typical spending 80-100 bucks a day crowd

if this is a cash grab, i think its going to hurt them in the end, or if this is really about under-age drinking, then they have a point, but resolve it with 18+ not what they have in mind now

It should also be considered that this may be a non-negotiable condition of keeping their permit.

This wont change much for me but I don't think it makes any sense either. They should definately make the switch to 18+ instead of banning BYOB. I think bringing your kids to hear Electronic Music is great but there isnt enough people doing it to matter. I see maybe 3 or 4 different kids when I go, to make it 18+ will be sad for a very small minority compared to banning BYOB which affects allmost everyone. Hopefully they have a good excuse for doing this, either way I usually buy my booze there so ill be ok.

if this is an issue about under age drinking, they should have had a contingency plan from the beginning. isnt piknik isolated with fence? while they check everyones booze can they not card people at the same time? call me an asshole. call me synnical but this is definately a cash grab. 84th ave is right about waiting for the press release but i think we all have preconceived notions. agreeing with everyone i will definately have to pick and choose which events i will go to from now on. i mean pre drinking is always an option but thats gay since we have to drive down from ottawa. lets just say their are going to be some expensive weekends this summer. taking into consideration what we do friday and saturday then having to drop 80 to 100 bucks at piknik.

too weak.
