With my experiences selling tickets barely ANYONE buys tickets beforehand anymore. They just 'reserve' them and want them at the dock. Then most come and grab em that morning.. which effing blows. Instead of chilling we're stuck running around chasing people down for money. And its not just my crew - its everyone.

So, in defense of some of the promoters, don't promise to buy tickets and get them at the boat. You wanna come? Get them beforehand then instead of chilling in the lot get yourself and your friends over to the lineup. Sketches move in herds - just like sheep.

The bullhorn is also a great idea - everyone is always looking at each other like huhhh? when should we gooo? now? okay how bout after my beer?

just sayin

There goes Oz's idea of using wristbands but hey if it makes the line-up and everything more organize so be it.

Thanks Joel I look forward to hearing how this works out but it seems like a great idea.

Wristband policy sounds like a good one to test out. Kudos to the effort being put out here.

I look forward to hearing how the first Beats Ahoy cruise works out...

This was the kind of response I was hoping for. Considering your past track record of putting patrons' needs first (e.g. consistently setting capacity to a comfortable level on high demand nights at Footwork), I have faith that you will come through on your commitment to get your boats to leave on time.

However, I will also add that there is still onus on patrons to do their part. If not, boats will continue to leave late, no matter what the organizers do. As Joel said, don't arrive to the boat 5 minutes before it's supposed to leave and avoid bringing bags/purses.

Lastly, I think that if we want boat cruises to last in this city, everyone needs to do their part to let those who over do it know that that kind of behaviour will not be tolerated. I find that no one wants to be that "buzz-kill" who tells someone that they should take it easy and that they are crossing the line. This is a pervasive attitude that exists in our community: an attitude that has and continues to have many consequences.

All we need is one idiot to do something especially stupid to have the city come in and do something drastic. As Joel said, these cruises already have the attention of the AGCO and the Toronto Police.

Here's an idea: how about having cruises on Saturdays instead of Sundays? I think that would substantially reduce the amount of people carrying on from the night before.[

After reading about security guards taking away girls make up on the river gambler I'd like to make a suggestion to promoters... Talk to the boat company and find out what is not permitted on the boat - include this message on the ticket, event page, facebook invite..

I think it's fair to warn customers about what will be confiscated - assuming you want to keep your customers happy.
