With my experiences selling tickets barely ANYONE buys tickets beforehand anymore. They just 'reserve' them and want them at the dock. Then most come and grab em that morning.. which effing blows. So, in defense of some of the promoters, don't promise to buy tickets and get them at the boat. You wanna come? Get them beforehand then instead of chilling in the lot get yourself and your friends over to the lineup. Sketches move in herds - just like sheep.

The bullhorn is also a great idea - everyone is always looking at each other like huhhh? when should we gooo? now? okay how bout after my beer?

After reading about security guards taking away girls make up on the river gambler I'd like to make a suggestion to promoters... Talk to the boat company and find out what is not permitted on the boat - include this message on the ticket, event page, facebook invite..

I think it's fair to warn customers about what will be confiscated - assuming you want to keep your customers happy.
