i totally agree with the first reply in this thread. Eminem just does whatever to get more money. political incorrectness is very popular among young people all over the world now

very talented, rhyming-wise...

also very talented in pissing people off for gain.

hes love or hate with people.

personally i think its hilarious that people take him so seriously or get so worked up about it. eminem is from Detroit, so he CANT be serious about techno when he obviously knows peopled DO listen or listens(whatever) to it.

moby is just a turd, and thats the kind of person that is easy to pick on|

eminem is extremely talented, noone can doubt that. if you don't think he is a good MC, you are either know nothing about hip hop, or you don't like him because he's white.

eminem got alot of popularity because he is white, but didn't get alot of respect because he is white. its a two sided issue. very few black people respect him.

if you don't know how Eminem is a good MC is that he can actually freestyle long and complex flows that are funny and actually make sence. if you listen to most rappers they either say interesting things but cannot flow, or they have mad flow but what they are saying is dumb and doesn't make sence. Emimem is on another level from most rappers, just listen to the D12 album, or the parts of the Marshall Mathers LP with other people in it. He makes the other people sound rediculous and horrible, everything flows so well and naturally.

btw: my favorite stuff from him is the Marshall Mathers LP, fuck the emeinem show.

Yeah, Eminem has talent, Hitler had vocal talent too, but they are both hate mongers. Hitler could have packaged a CD of angry music with his incredible talent for voice... but the content is more important than the talent of the content in some cases. Eminem is one such case.

I prefer some marginally intelligent stuff over Eminem, for ex. Barney has some nice songs above how we should all love one another... now there's good advice you never hear from a hate monger like Eminem.

u guys...man
Eminem is a great rapper. he can freestyle soooo goood. I mean i hate his commercialism u gotta recognize his rhyming skills. You guys are bashing on him the same way ppl who listen to hip hop and rap on trance or electonic music. They would listen to a track and not even give a chance.

Hooo boy...this thread is still alive and kicking.

is this not the goal of modern hip hop???

Ummmm...no.Hip hop has the same problem as trance or any other genre:there are a lot of ppl who are in it for the cash(partly like Eminem and totally like all the brain-dead west side poseurs on MTV),
and others who are in it for the music.I think you know that.
[/quote]

quote:

K i think Eminem is pretty poor as a rapper. Most i get out of him is a chuckle. I used to be into rap before i got into electronic music and there is much better more talented less obscene rappers out there.

If you're going to diss him as a rapper, then at least give some constructive arguments. You haven't written a single one in your entire post.(And "he swears too much" doesn't cut it,as almost all rappers, good or bad,are foulmouthed.)If you need arguments that are pro his skills as a rapper, read Davinox's post.

quote:

I could freestyle as well as he raps it aint hard to rap when you drop the "F" word every 3 words.

If you think that's what he's doing, then you seriously need to go over his lyrics thoroughly once, and not just refer to the hits like Without Me and My Name Is.Also, like many have said before me,he does have great skills when it comes to rapping,dl one of his freestyles to see what I'm talking about. If you can freestyle better than that, then you ought to get your ass down to an open mic night, cos you are really talented.

quote:

As for his lyrics being about his life most of that is shit, it's his show buiseness facade, he never murdered his babys momma or any of that shit.

Another evidence that you haven't read his lyrics thoroughly at all.He has never claimed to have killed the mother of his child,in fact,in Cleanin' Out My Closet,he says that he's glad he didn't have any bullets in his gun the day he pistolwhipped that guy that his ex- wife was talking to,and that got him into serious legal-trouble.

quote:

I think the most hilarious part of it all is he sits bitching about how he has so many fans and they love him for it. he says shit like no i wont sign your autograph call me an asshole im glad. yadda yadda. Is that how to appeal to americans, tell them to fuck off?

Again, read the whole damn lyrics to the damn tune!!!Later in the same tune,he says that he's thankful for every fan that he's got,but he's sick and tired of all the people stalking him everyday, which is pretty much what this song is about.Of course,he could have been a lot less obscene when saying this, but then it wouldn't have reached that many ppl.

quote:

Seems brittish people do that plenty why dont we buy stuff from them more often??

Irrelevant bullshit. That's all the typing I'm gonna waste on that statement.

quote:

And his beats are shite compared to the underground rappers as well as his message, in Hip Hop underground is much better it still has the soul....

Here you for once have a good point. He's not a good producer at all.He recycled Purple Pills for Without Me,and generally sounds so repetitve and boring,it is evident that he has nowhere near the creativity as a producer to make his own beats. If it hadn't been for Dre,his albums would've fallen flat on their noses musically.
Compared to ppl like Jay Dee,Madlib or Timbaland,he's indeed shite.

Like it always has been, there is still a lot of ignorance and prejudice when it comes to Eminem.Yes,there are lot of things that he does when it comes to image, music, behavior etc. that are stupid. But you still can't ignore the fact that he is one of the most skilled MCs out there. It's just too bad that his ego seems to be getting the best of him these days.

Eminem is a Fuckin Talent. He works hard to have what he has. Not only is he talented but hes in the "game" for the right reasons. Rap sucks without him, there isnt shit to listen to besides Eminem and Rakim, and some Nas. Some of you who dont know a damn thing about Rap should give a listen to Eminem's album "The Show", hit a spliff and listen to it and youll drop your trance anthems and wont go back for a while. You are so use to just listening to the beats of trance music you dont know the power of Rap. Listen to the lyrics to his songs and youll enjoy it. Being a big Tupac Shakur fan I havent seen any rappers do shit like Eminem is doing. So all you homos against rap or Eminem. Listen up to the Quality, cant wait till his next album.

I think the guy is the most creative and talented rapper to date. Just listen to his lyrics and in his songs and it's pretty amazing at what kind of stuff he can come up with.
About his attitude and all that stuff on contraversy, I do agree that it is a sad way to do business in the music industry. But, it lookls ike it's working pretty darn well for him.
As for his tracks, they were all produced by Dr Dre so that also explains why they have a catchy beat.

Yes, I do like Eminem purely for his talented rapping ability but not for stinking attitude. I'm hearing some positive comments coming from movie critics on his debut movie '8 Mile'. It appears the guy can act as well. I'll be watching this to find out when the film hits the streets here....
