Yea. I suppose you can make a valid point from both perspectives.

I do believe that is what Joss is intimating: That there is minimal, outright 'corruption' in the embezzlement\stealing\espionage sense. More like the US has found ways to make those things fuzzy enough so that no one but a lawyer or economist could point at and say "Aha! Rotten!" because those people are well paid to accept the system.

Not that I am accusing lawyers or economists or anyone of well means of plotting to fleece us for all we're worth. That's just how the system plays out.

Here's a classic:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_Irish_arrangement

quote:
Major companies known to employ the double Irish strategy are:
Apple Inc.[4]
Eli Lilly and Company[5]
Facebook[6]
Forest Laboratories[5]
Google[5][6][7]
Microsoft[5]
Oracle Corp.[5]
Pfizer Inc.[5]
Adobe Systems[5]
Nederlandse Spoorwegen[8]

Yay! Apple, Facebook, Google, Oracle, Pfizer, Microsoft! Nobody ever got rich from those companies.

And a "Dutch sandwich" sounds like something involving a be-chapped midget and an air compressor.

This.

Getting rid of government or removing government is not going to solve corruption.

There was a case where someone actually argued that because Walmart often participated in corrupt activities in Mexico to get land, permits, etc, then the obvious solution would be to take corruption off the books, so it was no longer illegal "because thats just how its done down there."

Getting rid of government is not the solution, and anyone who believes that is being fooled by the very people that are causing the problems in the first place. They are trying to get you to believe that government is the issue and not them and they want you to advocate for the removal of the very last pieces that prevent corporate and religious oligarchies from ruling over this country like some perverse post-apocalyptic sci-fi nightmare.

I have heard people refer to Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson as being an "ideal future"...

That books future sounds putrid.

And inevitable, in many ways.

QR codes always remind me of Snow Crash. I wonder if it would be possible to store some viral code in one that was sufficiently complex enough so that when drones are finally flying overhead to monitor the barcodes OBAMA requires to be tattooed on our necks in his 9th term in office, you can scramble them to cause all manner of havoc.
