STOP MILKING YOUR DEVASTATION FOR ALL IT'S WORTH.
Prescription...You're on a DIET now:
No more Fade To Black
No Tom Waits
No Aerosmith ballads
No T.S. Eliot!
No depressing movies, particularly with Jodie Foster between 1979-1981 (ecch!)
No more repeating images of her smiling face in your mind over and over
No more rehearsing sad songs in your head while imagining the two of you together in the hazy gold sunlight
No sitting around making a feedback loop out of sentiments like "It's over, there's nothing left, what good is life now, what's the meaning of it all..." and my personal favorite "She'll understand once it's too late. She'll find the bleached bones of my abandoned carcass somewhere in the middle of some deserted plain *sniff* maybe then she'll know what she's done to me! *sniff* *BAWWWWW*"
FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT'S GOOD AND DECENT, WAKE UP AND LOOK WHAT'S GOING ON!
Have you noticed how addictive it is to indulge in pity? To wallow in nostalgia and send yourself spiralling into total misery? I think this cycle-of-depression habit comes from TV drama culture and such.
Yes, grieving is necessary, but to do it all like this just to "get it out of your system" is like downing one drink after another really quickly so you'll be sober in time for work tommorrow. Doesn't work.
Let's set the record straight:
- "It's all over! I'm finished!" NO YOU'RE NOT. And it's all not over, it just won't involve Tania (is that her name?), but someone else. Soon enough. There are more chapters coming, with different characters.
- "How will I ever be happy again?" By choice, that's how. A friend of mine, poor guy, had to get some surgery down south and he'll probably never fuck again as long as he lives (and he's young). Is he miserable? No, he's happier than I am 'cause he deliberately chose to be happier.
Stock up on comedy tapes, get together with friends, keep yourself busy,
and don't EVER keep me up until 2:41 am with this nonsense again!
Good night. |
Ding ding ding. I agree. I once had an entire year of feeeling like SHIT in general because of girls, now I say "Fuck it" and move on. No real point in wallowing in self pity, she is NOT worth it. And if you call her it's a sad/pathetic attempt at trying to somehow get her back and it only makes getting over her (like you're supposed to be doing) a lot WORSE. Don't call her. Do as Taz says, GO OUT, DO STUFF w friends, simple. Then she'll be out of your system and gone and you won't even think of her.
