| quote: | NEWSFLASH: On Friday (2 days before the summit at the Azores) Chirac openly said that he would veto ANY new resolution proposed by the US and Britian, NO MATTER WHAT THE CICUMSTANCES. This is a fact. Why should the US be bothered to go through this procedure then? France is hypocirtical. France amongst other countires fucked this whole process of disarmament up. Totally.
You cannot pass a resolution which basically says "this is your last chance, if u dont comply face consequences" and then, when there is a clear breach, step back and say "lets wait and see".
fuck that |
It is different thing to say something and to actually do it. And don't blame it all on france, Russia and China would have most probably vetoed it also, and US would hardly get 9/16 votes from the security council. But regardless of that, doesn't anybody see it's odd that the US is breaching UN resolutions as a response to the Iraqi breach of a UN resolution?
And btw, disarmament process isn't a process that is finished in 2 days. It takes at least several months to disarm a country. Besides, I don't see how France screwed up weapons inspections when it asked, together with Germany to triple the amount of the inspectors in Iraq. And guess which country put a veto on that decision. Why, it was the US, surprise, surprise. So much for who screwed up the inspections. Also a reminder, the first inspections which ended in 1998 were canceled by Bill Clinton. That is, if weapons of which the country should be disarmed of exist, which has not been proven.
PS, go arguing on the political forum about matters like this, that's why it exist, right?
