If there's one thing I learnt from American evangelists is that, whenever a natural disaster happens, it's because gay people lived there (or anywhere close enough). Or because someone made a pact with the devil.

Don't you guys have televangelists in Australia? You could gather them and put them in the shore praying to divert the storm. It's a win-win situation

Ah. Well, this cyclone is heading for Cairns, not Brisbane. Ask Aquila about the gay community up there

So, which is it? Gaydom or devilness? One's got to have attracted this storm to your city!

So do I, but televangelists disagree and they're going to pick one of the two options eventually... would you rather let them make the choice?

No. They're generally ridiculed into silence and collectively ignored by the community, even the more dedicated christians just don't care for some money grub on TV begging for a handout.

It is frightfully hot here today though

Aquila, in your own personal opinion, would the Kewarra Beach area be a stupid place to be during this cyclone? Just found out my fiance's dad is back up in Cairns, and being a stubborn 70 year old Greek bastard, he doesn't want to leave his place

He's got a generator and a 4wd, if that makes any difference.

We told him to just fuck off from the place - Where would he go? Are there safe places in Cairns right now?

If he's at sea level, yes he's a dipshit. The storm surge is expected to be 3-4m high so areas within that height will be flooded by sea water.

In fact, most of the northern beaches residents have been urged to evacuate because of the flood potential. There are evacuation areas available for residents, the nearest would be Smithfield State High School, or James Cook University - which is only 2 suburbs away from him.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I don't know Cairns at all

He reckons he's 10 meters above sea level, so unless he's bullshitting, he might be alright.

Either way, stay safe mate.
