Ya'll need to drag the shutter a little. So that you get a crisp foreground with the flash but theres still a lot of light in the background (and no shadow).

Rubin uses the technique in his pics, so look at those to see what I mean.

These were taken by a professional photographer, he just doesn't typically do this kind of work.

And I really did a shit job of compressing them, if you saw the other files it's really like night and day. They're crisp as fuck.
