Climate is generally better on the east coast. The north/west coast gets tons of cyclones too, there's just nothing really there for them to destroy

The southern 1/4 of the west coast is easy enough, very dry though, Perth is a nice place but the people are a bit odd, kind of like Victorians if they had even less to brag about, but at least its not Adelaide. The remaining 3/4 of it to the north make somewhere Arizona look positively green, comfortable and delightful.
