Lets just get something clear here... ARod wont leave NY, he will and should retire as a Yankee.

All the teams that want ARod are in the AL, and the Angels head the pack of teams that want him, why in gods name would the Yankees let him go. The big thing they are trying to do is reconstruct the current contract with an extension of ARods pleasing.

so i'm actually going to a baseball game in Tokyo tomorrow. I'll be watching the home team (Yakult Swallows) take on their inner city rival (Yomiuri Giants). The game won't be at the famed tokyo dome, but at jingu stadium. it's an old stadium where babe ruth and other MLB legends have played exhibition games against various Japanese teams.

from what I read, it's the best place to catch a game in Japan. Full review and pics coming eventually after the game

this is jingu stadium. i just took this pic a few hours ago to watch the home team (yakult swallows) take on their bigger neighbors (Yomiuri Giants).

it's pretty small. the stadium somewhat reminded me of fenway since it's pretty small, intimate and cramped. (however, jingu lacks character that fenway has, but at the same time, it's not nearly as shitty as fenway) the scoreboard is cool since they update the batting average and HR total after every at bat.
the problem with this stadium, as well as japanese baseball stadiums is that they're all the same. so if you go to one stadium, it's no different from going to another.

japanese fan vibe is way different from the US. It's really like comparing apples to oranges. the best sections are the two bleacher sections. one for the home team and one for the visiting team. whenever someone is at bat, the bleachers for their respective team would sing a song for that player, similar to european soccer.

I had fun enjoying how the Japanese use different terms. Run on the scoreboard would show up as "Home In" on the screen. A bloop or a sacrifice would be called "chance".

yeah, the stadiums may not be a crown jewel, but i had a lot of fun being at the game

Interesting to hear about the Japanese stadium. I wonder why you think Fenway is shitty. The seats are small, but other than that it's a pretty excellent experience no matter who you root for.

This trade doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me - it seems that the Yankees should be stock piling arms not infielders.

I leave the country for 5 days and the yankees go ahead and do something stupid like this. Right after i praised Cashman for making the molina trade i have to retract any positive statements i may have made. This is exactly what is wrong with the yankees. If anything has been proven in the last few years it is that good pitching will win you the world series. We don't need another utility infielder. There's nothing wrong with Cairo. Furthermore, Cashman just weakened an already shitty bullpen. This isn't the first time i've said it, but cashman is probably the worst GM in baseball. If he didn't have money to throw at his mistakes the yankees would be one the worst teams in baseball.

Thank god i'm off to europe on sunday, i'm fuckin pissed at all this shit.

BTW....any suggestions that betimit (or however you spell his name) is going to replace AROD is laughable. AROD is going nowhere because (1) the mets have david wright, (2) the yankees will not let him go to boston, (3) the cubs have ramirez, (4) the angels don't enter these types of bidding wars, and (5) texas still pays a portion of his salary, so if the yankees renegotiate a salary increase texas will subsidize part of his pay raise. Effectively, the yankees have the edge because texas pays a portion of his salary until 2010, plus part of his deferred compensation plan.

Even if somehow Cashman was to fuck up and let him go (which obviously isn't beyond the specter of imagination), the word is that cano would move to 3b.

That's awesome, i'm glad for you steven and your daughter. She's a cutie.

Sorry i didn't make it to crudo, between the weather, hang over, and my procrastinating (packing for vaca), i just didn't have time. Although you can imagine how pissed i was when my 5pm flight didn't actually leave until almost 10pm, and after 4 gate changes.

seats are cramped, poles block view, choices for concessions are limited...it's just not a pleasant place to watch a game

yes, I know Fenway is historic, but the Boston fans deserve better than this.

what saves it is the neighborhood, the green monster, the ballpark is intimate and the fan vibe...one of the best in the bigs

of course, you get the same exact fenway vibe when you see the Red Sox on the road no matter where they play since Boston fans travel very, very well and their transplants adjust their schedule to go see the Red Sox on the road
