Things are happening just as i thought; The yankees are beating up on bad teams, and catching up. Hopefully this continues. The one thing i didn't expect was for the tigers to fall apart. Well, either way, the yankees are in good shape.
Like i said a few posts above, i hate the lastest move. It was stupid, and i don't see how the yankees are a better team by weaking the already shitty bullpen. Betemit is a good utility man, and at best an average everyday player. His upside is that he is young and he had a good season 3 or 4 years ago. In my mind, this shows that Cashman/torre don't trust Philips. What more does the guy have to do to show he deserves the spot at 1b? The man is batting .300 since being called up, and had quite a few huge hits last month. I hate cashman!!!

BTW.....Cano is sick! He's definitely one of my favorites. I only hope he learns to become more patient at the plate and he can increase his OBP.

i'm not disagreeing with you there at all.

Boston fans were horrified at the idea of knocking down Fenway . |
not all of them are. i know the save fenway park group was pretty active when the yawkey group announced plans in 1999 for a new park.

New parks have to offer cushy seats, and silly concessions (beer & hotdog what more do you need?)because they are about as interesting as a parking garage to be in. |
cushy seats means you'll actually be comfortable watching a game. it's my main gripe with fenway. when i went there in 2003, with the exception of watching the game (it really got to me late in the game), i had a blast there, especially since i got to walk along the field, touch the green monster, and shake Manny's hand
as for concessions, having more than just a beer and hot dog available definitely adds to the ballpark experience, especially when they are local specialties.
gonig back to japan, they had a good variety of both stereotypical ballpark food and japanese food available.
for some of the parks, yes it's as interesting as being in a parking garage (Chase Field, Miller Park to name a few). but for others,
but for the parks that are designed right, it makes for an unbelievable experience

No matter how great the fan base on the road is...it's not the exact same vibe. Ridiculous to even suggest it. The basic vibe might be there, but you can't duplicate the feeling you get being in the park that Boston fans have been chanting, cheering and cursing in since 1912! |
in the case for the red sox, it's not ridiculous at all. it comes pretty damn close.

Its times like this where we Yankee fans have to thank big George for giving us such a wonderful player and an amazing team. |
We can thank him now, but we must scorn him in 5 years when we're stuck with huge contracts for old players who are clogging the route of minor leaguers to the big.

Yeah it seemed like a crazy decision but at the same time I'm glad he never let go of Melky for Gagne..I don't know about Torre not trusting Phillips though,,I heard Torre say that Phillips is his number one choice at 1B and Betemit was purely a stand in infielder ...What confuses me is that Melky's position as CF is permanent so what happens at LF with Matsui and Damon....
