They had this thing on ESPN where they showed like the best goaltenders of each decade. And the pads just keep getting bigger and bigger.
Even in the 80's, when they had masks and pretty thick pads, there was still a lot of room to shoot. But now you look at guys like Giguere and Roy, they just take up the whole fucking net.
They all wear these extra large shoulder pads and chest pads, and the leg pads are just gigantic now. Even the blockers and gloves are bigger than they were just 10 years ago.
I think the game is as good as it has been (except for the watered down talent), they just need to make those goalie equipments smaller. |
That is true, but it still comes down to who's wearing the equipment IMO.
So the Wild have set 2 records in these playoffs: They are the only team to have come back from a 3-1 deficit in a best of 7 series twice in a playoff year; they also hold the record for the least amount of goals in a best of 7 series with 1.
Congratulations. I believe that we'll see more from this monotonous team in the near future.
Onto the Ducks now. Holy fucking shit, what more can I say. Uhh, I guess when you just don't lose, things go quite well in the playoffs. They are the first team to knock off the top two seeds in the same playoff year, and as far as I know, they are the first team to reach the finals with a 12-2 record since the '92 Blackhawks and '92 Penguins.
Go Sens Go!!!

I won't predict the final because the only certainty at this point is that the outcome will be a surprise (speaking from a pre-playoff point of view).
Good job Sens. It all comes down to one game, and they're playing it at home too. They've got all the momentum, the timing is just perfect for them, CARPE DIEM!!!
On a side note, what's this about Brodeur's wife wanting a divorce?
