Oh,That is so not true. I'm a Christian and I listen to Trance, happy hardcore, rave, hardcore, techno, and pretty much anything within the dance genre. I also compose happy hardcore, rave and hoping to get into hardcore.. a lot of Christians listen to these genre's.

It's nearly ineffable for someone to think that a large subset of people (in this case, christians) would be *completely* homogeneous in any one aspect... That is all I have to say.

there is one born every day...

Hey CKY

I understand what you mean about TECHNO (the subgenre, not the generalized one) being so hard-sounding that it might discourage some Christians from listening to it because many Christians have a more conservative demeanour. But I'll tell you -- I just became Christian (Christian Reform to be exact) over a year ago. I'm Italian so I grew up in the Catholic church, but like many Catholics I went to church by force and did so 'cause i had to' not 'cause I wanted to'.

Anyway, I digress -- I listen to all this stuff... Trance, House, Breaks, Tribal and some Techno (Techno is a little newer for me but it's really pumpin. Great to dance to!) And I can only speak for myself but maybe the fact that I wasn't brought up in a fully 'Christian' (i use this instance of the word a little loosely) environment might have contributed to the fact that I CAN listen to this stuff easier than some other people can.

But I think that true Christians (Not the fanatics out there who try to jump down yer throat on every thing and judge you -- Christians are not SUPPOSED to judge anyone; that's HIS job) will be able to see that MUSIC is MUSIC. If it invokes some emotions, it's because those emotions are already inside us from past experiences. BUT music with vocals and putting conscious suggestions into people's heads is what turns a pure beauty (music) into something more 'evil' (i guess is the term)

That's what I think. Like I said I understand your point of view -- but I think that it's a little TOO general and to fully understand something people need to do a little more research (myself included)

(BTW: I've been thinking about this subject ever since I've become a Christian and it's good to know there's other Christians out there who listen to this stuff)

Im was born a christian/catholic, can't say i really consider myself one these days althought i will be going to church on christmas eve(for me parents sake, cause it makes them happy). Anyways i Adore Techno. Favorite DJ include Danilo Vigorito, DJ Preach, Mauro Picotto, Adam Beyer, Henrik B and so on.................

I think you might be thinking of really really really religious sections of christiannity. Like extremests. For example my girlfriend on her fathers side they are insanely christian. And to me i find that because of it, they have steroeypes about certain aspects of the world which makes them ignorant to it. For example, they are thought at a young age that drugs are evil and such,(we all have but not to this point) and so a rave to them, would be something only siners go to. And therefore, they would never be exposed to underground music. But this is a very very small portion of the Christian world. I think pentacostal might be one of those overly religious section of the christian faith. then again i could be wrong.

I did not read the entire thread.. but to the thread starter.. I'm christian/catholic (practising) and I love electronic/metal/hardcore music.. so yea I don't think you're theory holds much weight. Maybe some of your friends who happen to be christian do not enjoy this kind of music, doesn't necessarily mean "christians" in general do not listen to this genre. Music crosses over all boundaries... I hardly think ones religious beliefs can dictate what music you listen to or enjoy.

Btw dancing is one of the highest form of praise
