Yea, thanks. I guess I kinda blow up too many times.... writing all of these big essays and such? Sharing my knowledge? It seemed like some people just...kinda disrespected it by saying it was wrong WITHOUT giving me a correction. I guess I got insulted, probably when I shouldn't.

I dunno. I see these....almost unilateral (but not completely unilateral) FAULTS with trance, and I think that the fact that everyone uses...less than idea tools to mix with might be the reason the faults I see are so...widespread. And, so, I guess I try to change that...

...and THEN, it seems to me, a lot of people outright ignore, even insult ("The V700's are best because they look cool!" <---Do you have ANY idea how much that gets under my skin?!?!) my efforts.

...really, have I reached anyone? Anyone at all with this thread? Is anyone going to even consider buying the MDR-V6's? What about all of those other "listening to trance" headphones I mentioned (such as the Koss UR-20, which, at $35, sounds basically the same as the MDR-V900DJ [$200]?)

DJAdamSmith: I had said in other forums that the Sony MDR-V600 sounds terrible for the price. That opinion is from a person who used to own a pair; I said "Gyah, these f***ing $100 Sonys sound WORSE than some $15 earbuds - let alone some of the $25 circumaural closed headphones! Boy, the old MDR-V6 was WAY better than the MDR-V600! And almost every other pair of headphones that cost at least $40 sound WAY better than the Sony MDR-V600, also! Sony really DID screw up on its successor model to the classic MDR-V6!"

ok guys sorry to raise this thread, but i just read the whole thing. gluegun you keep saying the v6s are the best for creating trance, but not once did you say its the best for spinning, or mixing it... just wondering about that.. also it doesnt have the rotatable earcups or whatever i dont think, wouldnt that be a bit of a hassle?
anyways im considering it, just so you know...

Yes, it does have the rotating earcups, and yes, it is best for mixing, spinning, for anything involving sound production, and, no, those sennheiser's are too tough to drive, look at the Seenhieser HD25 and the Beyerdynamic DT250-80.

Oh, and they'll sound good to listen to if what is going into them is good. In other words, they are truthful. Such is the nature of accurate headphones. The DJ1001 is the one that's okay in that IXOS line, but it still has that DJ bass that doesn't really help....Same with the Technics, of which I am not sure which is the higher end. But, regardless, I'd take the 7506/V6 over any of 'em.

Well, the best thing to do is actually go DEMO headphones....

Demo those "accurate" ones that I'm talking about (V6, HD25, DT250-80, if you can, they are all reccommended by me as great accurate DJ headphones that won't hold you back in any way, shape, or form), and look at some of the "normal" DJ headphones, as well. Of course, trust your ear more than you trust me...but at least try to hear the things that I suggest. Who knows. Boomy bass might be your thing, a placebo crutch you might actually need.

Oh, and, by the way, name brand means nothing for headphoens. Every Company has Lemons. Sennheiser makes the best headphones [read: they make the $11,000 Orpheus, god of all headphones], but many of their various lines suck. This is the same with everyone, every company has sucky headphones. The Sennheiser HD25 is good for DJing, if you want to go from that company, though.

P.S. I am glad that SOMEONE might actually be thinking about taking my advice! :P

I asked Starfox about that, and the story goes, he wanted to get the V700's, but a 65 year old rich audiophile who lives next door to him took pity on him, and told him the V6's were 1000x better (which they are) and GAVE him a pair, and now he believe's they are 1000x better too.

MDR-V6's are very neutral compared to many other headphones I've used. They also isolate alot better than the MDR-700DJ's, and deliver much nicer sound at the same time.

I'd like to give the Sennheiser 25's a try but I just don't have the money so I'm going to be sticking with V6's for the next few years.

On a side note, when I saw Slacker mixing a week ago, he brought along his own personal pair of V6's. All our local DJ's were using 700DJ's, but I think they just haven't had the chance to listen to the V6's yet. They are quite nice.
