This was by far the best weekend I have ever had!!!!
The preparty was so cool. Marco V kicked some serious ass. It was fun hanging out with a bunch of TA's there. We owned that place that night. LOL. Me, DaveT, DJ Woody, Noree, Tranceholic, DJ Bas, and more! It was my first time seeing Marco V and he made a great impression. The club was really intimate, there weren't that many people there. That meant more room for us to dance. Me and Woody got back to the hotel room like at 4am and ordered some pizza and crashed out.
Woke up around 11am Saturday morning and got ready for the TA meet up. Orbital32 and his friend met up with us at the hotel room and then we all walked over to the Metreon and met the other TA's. The Metreon looks pretty nice. I really liked the fountain outside in that little park area. Then most of us TA's walked over to the start of the Love Parade.
At first, it was a little disappointing because there weren't too many people there yet. And it was almost 1pm...me, woody, orbital, and orbital's home girl walked around and took pix of all the floats and crazy people. There were 2 naked dudes on a street corner and one of them had giant nuts!!!!! LOL. He had like elephant man syndrome or something. There were a lot of topless women. That was cool. We went back to our hotel to get our friend Dani and then when we got back to the LP, it had started! We walked up to the front to the Space Cowboys float. They were throwing it down on that float. It was funny learning how to dance + walk at the same time. LOL.
We got to the end of the parade and then entered the Post Parade Festival area. Paid $5 to get in...we could have easily jumped a fence and gotten in for free. LOL. Me, Orbital, and his friend got some food right away before the mass of people arrived. We were among the first group to get there. I stopped by Krystal Blue's stage and talked to her for a little while. She's my friend from Myspace. She's pretty talented, she plays live with keyboards and synthesizers, and sings as well. I think she's only 19. What a hottie. We walked around for a while waiting for the rest of the floats and people to arrive.
The post parade festival was a little annoying because I had no idea who was playing where and when. I just walked around and tried to experience a little from every float. I mostly chilled at the Spundae one with DaveT and his g/f and some other TA's (DJ Bas, Tranceholic, Noree, Orbital). I lost Woody pretty early on. I checked out these dj's named Witchdoktor and Spook. They were fuckin rad! I didnt know the names of any of the other dj's I saw but I checked out the dj that played before D:Fuse (Jonathon Ojeda?), then D:Fuse, and then Sandra Collins.
At the TA meetup, I bought a shirt in front of the Metreon that said "GEORGE...THE ONLY BUSH I WOULDNT GO DOWN ON." During D:Fuse's set, he held up an anti-Bush sign, and so then I held up my shirt to show it to him and he got a kick out of it and started laughing. At the end of his set, he asked me if he could have my shirt. I thought about it and then I was like "Sure, but only if you let me come on stage with you and take a pic and give me an autograph." LOL. The deal was made...so basically I paid $8 to have D:Fuse's autograph and to take a pic with him. I guess it was worth it cuz it was my first time seeing him and he was awesome! Sandra Collins was pretty good as well but we left a little early so that we could go back to the hotel and get ready for the afterparty.
Woody wasn't feeling well once we got to the hotel. Orbital's friend was only 19 so she couldnt come to the afterparty, which forced Orbital to stay in the hotel with her. My friend Dani's friends came to the hotel to meet up with us and then we took off to Kelly's Mission Rock (Me, Woody, Dani and her friends). We got there and the line wasn't too long. Woody had bought presale tickets for me and Dani and had to come to the club so that we could get our tickets. Once we got our tickets, he went back to the hotel because he was feeling really shitty. One of Dani's friends got his ticket.
Once we got inside the club, I pull out my camera to take a pic and then I was like "OH SHIT!! I forgot my batteries!!!!" I had left them in the charger in the hotel room. I asked all the bartenders, security, and other staff of the club if they had batteries. Hey, it was worth a shot. NO LUCK! The club was pretty nice but a little small. There were 2 indoor dance floors (one upstairs and one downstairs), and then 2 outdoor dance floors (one on the patio, and the other one where all the beds were with people chillin out/sleeping/resting). The laser projector thingy was projecting out into the water and on the big ass "battleships."
I didn't know anyone in the club except for Dani and her friends. I didn't see any other TA's the entire night. That made me sad. I walked around the whole night looking for you fools. LOL. I checked out all of Sandra Collins' set and it was by far the best set I have heard from her. This was the 5th time I've seen her. She wasn't all drunk or drugged up. LOL. I think someone like disconnected the power or something at one point in her set because the sound got killed..but then it started again and she continued to rock the dance floor. The upstairs dance floor was mega packed. I had to take a few breaks cuz my legs were damn tired from all the walking around at the Love Parade and the post parade festival.
I then saw D:Fuse kick off his set, but then went back to see Hybrid since I didn't see them at the LP festival, and already saw D:Fuse earlier that night. D:Fuse wasn't wearing the shirt I gave him. ******. LOL. Hybrid was pretty fuckin bad ass. The sound went out on them like their 2nd or 3rd song in. It took them a little longer than Sandra to figure out the problem. I think Sandra came up and saved the day and Hybrid went back to pwning us all. It was my first time seeing them and I was having a good time listenin to them nice breakbeats.
During one of my rest breaks where I was sitting down near the front left speaker, some dude offered me some sticky icky chron' stuff. LOL. I am a pretty straight edge motherfo'...but I thought "My fuckin joints hurt like a bitch and I heard this shit helps out with joint pain". HAHA. It fuckin made the pain go away!
I was dead fuckin tired by 4am and just could not go anymore. Total sensory overload. Damn, and I wanted free breakfast at 5am too and to see D:Fuse dj past the sunset out on the deck. Too bad. I took a cab back to the hotel by myself. I got to the room and Woody was asleep on one bed, and Orbital was sleeping on the edge of the other one the shortways. His friend was asleep on the recliner. I crashed out on the other half of the bed Orbital was on. All I had was a thin ass fuckin sheet. I was freezing my ass off. I fell asleep instantly tho. Around 6-7am I felt someone crawl into the bed with us and steal my sheet. It was Dani. She was all spooning me. WTF? LOL. I woke up when Orbital and his friend took off and Dani was asleep on the bed with Woody. Maybe I dreamt Dani was in the bed with me, or maybe it was Orbital spooning me. Yeah baby yeah. LOL.
We checked out of the hotel and then headed over to Amoeba Records on Haight Street. I picked up 5 records for $12!!!! I got:
Unknown artist - "Adagio for strings" Remix ($1.99)
Sipping Soma - Superconscious ($1.99)
Organic Audio - Nurega ($1.99) <----this song is from Fast & the Furious
CRW - Precious Life ($2.99)
Fused - Terror ($2.99)
I was super stoked about that. The drive home was rough. Took a lot longer to get home than it took us to get to SF. This weekend was the best ever. Finally something topped the weekend I had at Coachella in 2002.
Woody, thanks for everything bro. I owe you big time! I will make it up to you.
DaveT, Orbital, Noree, DJ Bas, Tranceholic- It was fuckin tight chillin with y'all.
Photobot- It was nice meeting you and chillin with ya for a bit. I was laughing my ass off when I saw you holding the TA sign once I got to the Metreon. Pretty ghetto sign. Whatever works tho I guess. LOL.
Love Parade was fuckin bad ass and it exceeeded my expectations. It was a mind blowing experience. I can't wait for the next one. I will be on a high from this for quite a while. I can't stop talking about all the fun I have. Sorry for writing so damn much. LOL. I am just still excited.
PICTURES COMING SOON!

Overall, a great experience at Love Parade! Hope they'll have it again next year in SF - I'll def make it a yearly exodus if they do
Highlights:
- Seeing all these people... WOW!!
- Walking along, dancing along with the floats. Too cool, too fun!
Lowlights:
- I think I saw like 20 port-a-potties at the end staging area. For thousands and thousands of people. You do the math. DUMB!!!!!
- No maps for where specific floats were parked, what DJs were to play, etc
- Some of the floats were parked in such a way that the setting sun was behind them, thereby blinding all the people in front of the float trying to look up at the DJ (should have moved them to where the food vendors were)
- Two really really old & wrinkly guys totally naked. Not that bizarre, but one of them had elephantitis of the testicles. Gross would be an understatment. At first I thought it was a flesh-colored fanny pack, but noooooooooo.... I think I'll have nightmares for awhile...
Overall some slight blunders but it's the first year, so I was actually surprised by how relatively smoothly it went (esp the parade route).
