and in turn, how is that defined? Its a stupid irrelevant, undefinable question. And realistically he expects no answer.

Because Laush refuses to answer unless phrased correctly...

Technically, is Paul van Dyk better than James Zabiela when using decks?

Don't act like you dont get the question, sure it might be irrelevant to the thread, but undefinable? its simply asking for your opinion on weather you believe you favorite DJ, Paul Van Dyk (and im basing this on posts ive seen where you defend PvD to the end) is better than James Zabiela on the decks, building a set, etc. Obviously you probably have no idea why im asking, but basically its just to see how ignorant you are, among other things.
That's ok though, you don't have to answer, you already did.

sometimes i don't know why i bother, but i thought you would be mature enough to handle a conversation. I guess i was wrong, not only did you prove youre not mature enough (kinda like every other noob in TA), but you also convinced me that you have no fkn clue what you talk about and therefore i should'nt bother wasting my time on a dumbfuck like you. Fair enough?

so if i prefer PvD to zabiela then im ignorant and a dumb fuck? whatever. I'm convinced that you have 'no fuckin clue' either & that youre simply another one of these gimps whos suddenly decided to get into breakbeat because they think its a bit cool. Dont confuse me with some of the other twats who think PvD is 'god' and can do no wrong. But understand that he was around shaping the music scene when zabiela was still only about 10 years old. Dont get taken in by the hype, hes an average dj at best. So what if he tries loads of tricks? Jeff Mills has based his whole career on that, and hes losing more and more respect by the day. Until zabiela can prove himself a good dj in terms of his actual musical sound, rather than in terms of some novelty act, then i have very little time for him.

are you american?

Oh thats nice, so you want me to not confuse you with other noobs who think PvD is god but yet your assuming i got into breakbeat because its a bit cool? Well i got into breaks around 2002, and they got more recognized in 2004 perhaps? so no.
And sure PvD might have been shaping EDM when Zabiela was 10, so what? He has more experience? yeah maybe he does, hes been around longer. Having more experience dosen't make you more talented though.
And i dont jump on hypes, i go by my own opinion which is based on his sets and the live performances ive seen. And let me tell you, if you've been listening to Zabiela sets lately, he just gets better with each one. Of course in 2002, early 2003 he might have screwed up a few time, but what DJ dosent ever scew up? thats how they learn, well at least some do.. and judging by Zabiela's most recent sets, i can say he's gotten better, not only technically but also with his track selection.
And its not just about all the tricks he can do man, its about how he applies them towards his music. You see this guy on stage actually remixing live in front of your eyes, sampling trippy ass shit over tracks that just makes them sound better, gives them more meaning, sets an enviorment. Then when you least expect it he surprises you with some scratching solo that fits perfectly into the track, and he know how far to take it and what effect he wants on it. Most of the time his effects, scratching and sampling are right on cue. If you dont think thats amazing then you are missing out or havent been paying attention. He's already proved himself more than an average DJ to me. Anyone who works the decks as well as he does is more than average in my book.

and no, im not American, im Salvadorian.

they have 2 totally different styles, how can you compair them at all? Zabi plays house/progg, and breaks, and paul plays an odd mixure of electronic house/trance, with many different styles mixed in.

Maby you should compare Zabi with rap djs, because they do alot of the same things mixing wise. Zabi may be a good "entertainer," but imo that is not the point of being a dj.

Its just like compairing the best European football player, to american football player.

A lot of people actually do enjoy the tunes that Zabiela chooses to play. I wouldn't force myself to listen to a set just for tricks if I didn't like the track selection.

Progressive music is much more than bleeps and beaps over a trancy bassline. Maybe with time you will understand where I'm coming from. I once thought Armin & Markus were good but than as I started to listen to more and more music, I than realized they were shit.

The closer you follow dance music the less you are likely to cling onto a particular DJ or sound. You, like the music, become ever changing.

Remeber that change is what gives dance music its beauty. Embrace this philosophy and you will never have your heart broken when your favorite DJ or artists disappear, which they will eventually.

couldnt have said it better myself. very well put.

The music is irrelevant. It's not like comparing American and European football. Those are completely different games with completely different rules. It's more like comparing American Football to Canadian Football.
