i think its because lately, a lot of trance has the "been there, done that" feeling....that occurs with every music style. If that happens you see the style evolving. Thats why progressive, techno and breaks are even house are getting more involved into trance which causes trance to evolve into new subgenres. Its just the usual stuff that happens with every genre.

armin just said trance is alive.

Take That!

i don't think its dying but i do think its maturing. which is completely different.

the genre over all seems like it has been lookin around for a new sound since the golden days

And while one day viciously throwing down on his box Jack boldly declared "Let there be house!" And house music was born. I am the creator and this is my house and in my house there is only house music. But I am not so selfish because once you enter my house it then becomes our house and our house music and you see no one man owns house because house music is a universal language spoke and understood by all. You see, house is a feeling that no one can understand really unless you're deep into the vibe of house. House is an uncontrollable desire to jack your body and as I told you before this is our house and our house music. In every house you understand, there is a keeper and in this house the keeper is Jack.

Armin also said he dislikes alot of the music he played on ASOT. Oh, and trance isn't maturing. It's been at a complete standstill for years now, until Markus Schulz' sound came along. Now it has stopped evolving again.

The way it works is that if you listen to trance for long enough you will start to hear the same thing redone over and over again.

That's why new genres are so appealing to people and why their musical tastes "evolve". You listen to a genre for long enough and you start to become tired with it or want to seak out something new. For me I found trance was starting to lack so I've gone more into house and hard trance as opposed to the uplifting and more progressive sound I was into before.

It makes sence to move on and experience new genres.

Oh, boy...all that analysing why people don't listen to trance. I think therefore people are people, they change during the years, and sometimes musictaste goes with that.

Some people do that and go listen that other music in silence, some people go on and feel so damn proud about this revelation in their life that their head went up their asses and it won't get out. And some people are content about their music as it is, and some are so content that they have to say it everytime again.

This 'why people do not listen to trance anymore' cannot ever be answered.

The same people who hate Trance also hate Star Trek and Trekkies... they are repelled by Escapist Culture, whether it is musical or on t.v..... and so the Escapists remain cordoned off, thus perpetuating the culture...

Who cares?/ (a typically Escapist answer)

n.b i need some help getting back !! this is my first post since many years ne help is acknowleged ..am staring to dig back my trance mix tapes (it's good to get the good from all)

FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKING FUCK!!!!!!!!!

Trance is NOT DEAD. GO TO HELL YOU PRICK.... I'm KILLING YOUR KIDS, KILLING YOUR DOG, KILLING YOUR CAT, KILLING YOUR FISH, KILLING YOUR WIFE, AND CHOPPING OFF YOUR FUCKING ARMS AND LEG

nothing pisses me off more than "trance is dead"...

ahhh.... now that I've calmed down....

Your not a prick. BUt yeah, your history to trance sounds VERY similiar to mine. Almost the exact same. I started with ATB, then DArude, then Tiesto, then Digweed, but then, I LIKED PVD.

I know this is going to sound absurd, My suggestion to you is download the Paul Van Dyk Live @ ENergy 03, and Paul Van Dyk LIve @ Amnesia.

I find PVD's sets and his music takes AGEEESSSS to get used to. Once you start to like him, u should be cured. ALso get: ANother way, Beautiful place, and Animacion by Paul Van Dyk...

I've gone through the same periods of the "damn, trance is geting so shit" phases. BUt i always stuck in there. Eventually, it comes back. It's like a up-and-down roller coaster. It's a sign u need to spread ur tastes more, and experiment a bit, and try different stuff ur fav artists already make. Or go back to the era u liked, and get more stuff from then that's good, but u don't have yet.

What made u come back on TA anyway?
