using ableton properly could transform trance sets into something quite different to the norm.

however, it seems that that Ableton is becoming somewhat of a bandwagon, and PvD has jumped onto it. and he hasn't done much with it apart from what appears to be using it a psudo-form of traktor. that is gash. At least G&D use/used it to good effect when i've watched them.

And you miss the initial point that helen was making dave, which was that you can do lots of stuff with ableton that you can't do with your traditional mixing setup. at no point did she refer that it was an amazing tool that PvD was making full use of

Yes lots of use of the word 'could' on this topic. It could do this and it could do that. However in the hands of a trance dj it never will really will it?

considering the general talent of trance DJ's doesn't really progress past basic mixing skills like beatmatching and correct phrasing, i would have to agree with you there

true, basically because of the way trance is produced, there isn't much you can do with it in that sense. tracks are often made to sound full & complete, with their own clear-cut peak/trough structures and melodic overtones. trying anything beyond mixing the outros with the intros will normally result in horrid clashing. i've heard very few DJs who could disprove this anyway

exactly & same response to Dave's last post, I fail to see the use for nearly all trance DJs with maybe a few exceptions

What about Naxos Project - Cold Fusion? I am pretty certain one of the first couple of tracks in his N-Joy set was played but I always get this and Final Cut confused with each other. Failing that, one of the early tracks might have been Deep Voice - Alone Again (Thomas Datt Remix). But again all these shit trancers sound the same to me.
