Insane
What else can I say. I thought it would be tough to top my first night partying in TO ever after Friday night at This is London, but this event at the Docks may just have topped it. Out of two nights clubbing, we definitely made it 2 for 2.
Before arriving, we had asked some locals what to expect at Docks. Their response:
- Expect an older crowd
- Expect to have dress code, no runners, tshirts etc.
- Expect a 30$ cab ride to get there.
Guess they were wrong on all accounts! We showed up at Docks after a 10$ cab ride around 11:30. No problem getting in thanks to guestlist.. seems the people around us in line were having a lot more trouble.
Get inside and we all went into shock mode . Candy ravers, 16 yr old kids, sketchy people...did we get the right place? We definitely did not fit in wowwwww, we were overdressed and were double some of the kids' age in there etc. Contrast to This is London and this was another world.
In any case, we ask how to get upstairs to hit up the bar, having to go through the 'hardcore' room. I don't mean to sound elitist but mannn I couldn't take more than the 10 seconds it took to walk across the hardcore room. My head was going to explode. The volume inside that little room was propably 5 times what it was in the huge room outside. After some drama with the Quebec IDs, we get upstairs finally and hit up the barssss...
Assessing the club from upstairs I was very impressed! The place is HUGE! What is the capacity?? 5000? more? Insane.
We did a little tour and found the TA lounge and the little room downstairs (something Lounge I think it was called) the most appealing. I had never been to a party with DnB/Jungle before and in some of the other rooms, the people realllly knew how to move...very impressive. It really wasn't my thing though but was cool checking out something brand new. My only complaint about the layout was the fact that people kept opening the doors to outside every 5 minutes. WTF?
Anyways stayed close to the bar up until 2am closing time, and by then Mark EG was on. Watching this guy from upstairs, he was ABSOLUTELY PSYCHO. His energy was infectious. The guy really IS nuts!! Made our way downstairs for his set and mannnnn hard banging beats. Was loving it (at this point was happily wasted might I add!!)
Ran into more interesting characters on the dancefloor. LOL that guy with the goatee and dinosaur? WTFTWFFWTFW!!!111oneoen1! Is he someone's grandfather?
And that girl that would go around dancing with every 2nd guy for 5 seconds then move on?? lol. Classic stuff.
J00F came on and we were flying by that point. The guy put on a great set!! He kept reminding me of the bald guy from Infected Mushroom with his energy and hand gestures. In the back of my mind I kept replaying the part from Ibiza's Children when someone asks J00F for a drink at the DJ booth and wouldn't take no for an answer...lol so random.
Didn't stay for Adam Sheridan. By that point we were pretty spent and called it a night around 5am. Good times! Was nice seeing some familiar faces (nat, shanny, towel boy) and some new ones endlesswave, princess (?), tordan, swamper, chinamon...many more I could barely hear anything down there so sorry if I missed your name. I find it hilarious that you guys introduce each other with your TA names rather than your real names...took some getting used to
Hats off to the Tdot. You've definitely changed my skewed Montreal perspective of the scene down there. I will definitely be back. Hope to see you soon for Bal en Blanc.
Cheers
