TIL is a great club. Its a handsome looking venue, with so many attractive girls. Sanchez tore it up, as did deep dish when i saw them there before, so on the DJ front, its top notch too. Crowd is a bit pretentious, but there's still the music lovers in there. Regardless of what you might say Sasha, many people in there did have style and did know about the music. So I wouldn't generalize, b/c that means you're shifting the ignorance scale from the bouncers to yourself. I mean, you wouldn't be dissing all the patrons that got in if you yourself got in, so why don't we put this jealous sob story to rest. I'm really only sorry that Tristan didn't get in b/c he can bust it old skool.

1. The DJs booked at TIL are the same DJs who play regularly at guv, Cozo and the old system. you will never hear most of them switch over and start playing at Sonic, the docks, or footwork.

2. You'd be surprised at how much DJs think about the crowd - including attractiveness. I've read quite a few DJ blogs where a DJ will comment after a gig at how hot the crowd was. Go read Misstress Barbara's blog entry on her website that she wrote following her set at This is London.

I didn't choose any of the options in the poll b/c there wasn't a proper answer for what I think of the place.

I'm on the fence.

Pros:
I think the club itself is really nice. The set up is great, pretty classy. The dance floor is good to dance on and after 3ish the regular bar crowd usually goes home so there's lots more room! They bring in great DJs and I like the closeness of the DJ to the crowd. The upstairs I also enjoy, nice couches. You can dance up there or look over onto the dance floor. (I just don't like the carpets, makes it hard to dance...haha but I manage). And obviously the bathrooms (at least the girls, I don't know about the guys) are awesome. Lastly, in a past experience when a friend of mine just got a little too fucked up and needed to go home, the bouncers were nice enough to let us stay upstairs (which was closed) and take care of him until someone left to take him home. I thought that was pretty nice of them considering they could have just kicked him out and said the hell with him.

Cons:
The line to get in there is just unbelievebly ridiculus and unorganized. I've only had one bad experience with the line (mind you it was for opening night - Deep Dish). But we waited an hour and a half to get in...30-45 minutes of that being the next ones to get in through the guestlist line...while they proceeded to let random people they knew in, as well as TONS of people from the regular line. What's the point of being guestlist if the other line is just going to move quicker. When we tried to ask the bouncerse what was going on...they ignored us...flat out.
Personally I haven't had any other problems with the bouncers or getting in...but I've heard many a story from friend's who have gone and have had lots of trouble. It seems like the bouncers tend to go on a power trip and the "rules of admittance" change while you're in line. I don't think that's really fair. But this I'm just commenting on from hear-say.

All in all...I would go back b/c I like the club and they bring in great DJs. If I continually had bad experience with the service there however, I may re-think my opinion.

Ok the way I see it is that there's a conflict in what type of crowd they're trying to attract.

1)They want to attract an older, well dressed/classier crowd with their dresscode restrictions
2)They want to attract an EDM crowd by booking the big names

Do those two groups coexist? Of course they do. This is what I don't understand:

Why book a big name DJ that will only fully be appreciated by EDM fans and then cut out a large portion of the EDM fans? They don't deny entry to people who aren't EDM fans, do they?

If you're going to book a big name dj because you think that the hardcore EDM fans out there will show up, then don't turn them away when they do show up. What they're saying by turning away the EDM fans is Fashion > EDM. Which is fine, but why pay out the ass when you could hire a very talented lesser known DJ to spin some house music for your fashionable crowd.

If they're attempting to target EDM fans AND Dressed up people, then they're market is too specialized and will ultimately fail IMO. Get off the fence.

Even if it doesn't fail, I think they're losing money.

The # of people who will be allowed into a club on a given night will be more or less consistent. The idea behind getting a big headliner is to attract more people, specifically EDM fans in this case.

However without the big headliner, they're just as likely to attract the same number of people based on their other goals: classy, clean, stylish. Yet they sitll paying the big $ for the well-known EDM djs. Why not spend less money to accomplish they're musical wants and hire a lesser know, yet still talented, dj to spin their tunes.

You guys make it like TIL is going to fail because some of you can't get in. They're not going to stop packing the place, no matter how upset you are.
