Yes, I love wine. I am obsessed with it. I recently started my collection and will be adding onto it soon. I plan on buying two bottles of each wine I collect. One to drink that very night hehe, one to save for years to come.... anywayz, here are my recommendations and warnings

Wine I enjoy:
1) Louis Jadot, Pinot Noir (2001)
2) La Crema, Pinot Noir (2003)
3) Coto de Imaz, Rioja (1998 Reserva &1995 Gran Reserva)
4) Montecillo, Rioja (1996 Reserva)
5) McWilliams, Merlot (2002)
6) Estola, Rioja (1994 Gran Reserva)
7) Marquez de Caceres, Rioja (1998 Reserva & 1995 Gran Reserva)
8) El Coto, Rioja (2001)
9) Francis Coppola, Pinot Noir

and there's so many more, but I recently took out the trash, along with 30 or so empty bottles of wine hehe

Good Cheap wine to buy if you're low on cash:
1) Bella Sera, Merlot (2000) ($8)
2) Louis Jadot, table wine ($9)

Wine to stay defuk away from:
Any kind of YellowTail. I've tried them all except for their line of Reserva's. Sure, the Wine Report rated the Shiraz, Reserva a whopping 93 points. And all that is saying is that it's tasty and is a good wine for the price, but regardless- most of YellowTail taste like utter trash. It's the most imported wine in the United States, and their advertising strategy is flawless. You can't go anywhere without seeing a shrine of YellowTail bottles in your local liquor store. But let me just say, it's the Coca-Cola of wine! The Nike of wine! It's your run-of-the-mill, "oh i think they'll like it", let's put a cork in it, ship it out, and to hell with quality- kind of wine. hehe

Anywayz, in other news I have recently placed an order for 6 bottles from Spain: Coto de Imaz, Rioja (2000 Reserva)
And I'm very exicted.... they just arrived. Drank one, and it was f0kin fantastic. I love it.

I'm also purchasing a new wine rack. It's going to look like the picture below except I think I'm going to go with the Mahogany finish as opposed to the Cherry finish viewed below.

Not the 98 pinotage, but the 2001 redhill pinotage, and still have a bottle of their merindol syrah. also brought back delheim pinotage, saxenburg shiraz, and some 1995 nederberg auction wines.
Their export prices are only marginally cheaper than local wines in Aus, but aged wines, especially at the cellars, are a fraction of the prices of things here. my favourite wines would still be the saxenburg reds.
Other notables are the marlborough savignon blancs from NZ.

i love the vineyards in south africa. i was a bit too drunk both times i did a wine tour of south africa, but simonsig sticks out the most b/c that pinotage was the first one i tasted and it was great. delheim was nice too, i remember they had a great lunch! what other vineyards did you go to?

whatever.........you like my wine knowledge

ps: ebveryone loves merlot

it's the one night stand of wine's..........

if you want a tasy, non-imposing wine.......merlot is the way to go.

i recommend a cheap Bella Sera, or a "Red Truck" wine.......red truck is a mix betweeen shiraz and cabernet ssavignon ...............so tasty but so cheap. DO IT

if you are feeling risky, go wtih a claud du bois, or whateve...........not so good, but worth the money for a cooking kind of wine...........

this time just simonsig and delheim, time was short. past visit favourites are random small places just outside franschoek, saxenberg at juils river, the one with the goat house tower, not sure of the name. Still want to make it to the house of jc le roux, people tell me they make the best sparklings in the cape, and I've had some veyr good ones from other makers.
boeschendal is on everyones list, but I found the wines dissappointing, you really go there for the grounds. Constantia uitsig has a great restaurant, but so do many places there.
last year I got to go to Groot constantia, one of our agents ove rthere was friends with the chief winemaker, so at 9am we were in the cellar, tasting direct from the aging casks. Great way to enjoy breakfast.

^ wthell. You finally chime in on the last page?! Sexy rack.

I beg to differ as far as Clou du Bois being used as a cooking wine. That's what Franzia's for, as the other boxed wines we used to chug.

I don't really drink much wine during the summer. The reds don't work in the heat imo. I don't pair with food, but weather hahaa. So, what I'm asking for is recommendations on some white for this summer. I won't be bias as to varietals. Bring it ooonnnnnnn.
