You can be as dissolusioned as you want but you don't have to be an ass to the people who still like the stuff. Too many people on this site act like musical missionaries trying to make others feel bad for enjoying the stuff that they like. There are ways to plug the stuff that you enjoy without being a jerk to people who like different stuff, a simple "I find this music too formulaic and not unique enough for my liking, and would rather listen to XXXXX" would be enough.

It is quite understandable to branch out to different styles of music, people do it all the time, but most of them don't feel the need to preach about it to others via web forums and proclaim that their newly found taste makes them more mature and part of a superior class of EDM fan.

We all go through this, we hear the same shit day after day then get online or go to some obscure venue in hopes of finding something different and exciting, is it really such a problem that people find armin different and exciting compared to what they were previously exposed to? If you get bored of it you can branch out to something different but why be such a party pooper to all those that you leave behind?

There is plenty of great 2006 music, I lost a giant heap of it in a hard drive failure last month . I agree that it isn't coming out of ASOT and that armin's camp is getting really poppy and unexciting, but you can't force kids to stop enjoying things if they like them. I guess we are falling into this trap that makes us think all people who like armin are being sheep and we just can't accept the fact that a bunch of people genuinely prefer his music.

I retract my earlier statement, this now qualifies as the biggest amount of bullshit i've read this week. You're taking the idea that anybody who doesn't like armin (or tiesto has been brought up here) doesn't because they're elitist, not because they actually just don't like the current sounds they're playing. It's thoughts like that that allow the 'elitists' the chance to look down on people like you & laugh, because it has nothing to do with it at all. I don't care who makes or plays a track, if it's good it's good, but if it's not, that doesn't make me any less of a listener. If all of us who don't like the crap coming out from AvB etc now are elitists, then god help us all.

Noone can make new quality track every week, neither Armin; nor Tiesto or any DJ from 1993. And dont tell me year 1993 had more trance releases than 2006, and year 1993 had more number of 'good tracks' releases than year 2006.

And you are very arrogant to make a statement like 'I would pick ANY Art of Trance track'. What you mean ANY? Like he was a GOD; 100% of his works are jems. Not even a single track which is not off the mark? All of them better than Tiesto and Armin combined? Looks like ex-DJ worshipper to me.

Yeah, f.e. I spend pretty much every month on buying vinyls, because i love the tracks. Itīs so individual and subjective! Noone can judge if this era of trance is worse than the one in 1993 and vice versa. Itīs different but that does NOT mean worse or better.

An analogy would be saying "noone can judge if Britney Spears is worse than Mozart".

Of course, music taste is always something highly subjective, but I'm perfectly entitled to my opinion that 1993 trance is 10 times better than current trance, thank you.

UnWorldly: i agree that it's pointless to be a music missionaire, and i don't think anyone questions that the Armin fanboys listen to him because they genuinely like him. At a point he used to be my favourite dj, i know why they like him!

But the way some of them get all mega-defensive at any criticism is hilarious. Hey, they're claiming we all secretly listen to ASOT and just pretend we don't like it cause of jealously! I think we're perfectly entitled to make fun of them when things reach that point.
