Year In Rewind 1993
DJ Mix by Nik Fish
Side A
1. ID??? (An intro that featured a few times on Musiquarium)
2. ID??? (Male sample: “Dow Da!”)
3. ID??? (Female sample: “Cosmanalita!” and “Ah, ah, ah…. Bellisimo!)
4. ID??? (Female “here we go funk, yeah yeah,” sample, plus features same funky boppy bassline as TranceX – “It’s Gonna Be Alright”, and that also cameos in "Passion" Gat Decor after the intro, before the drums kick in)
5. ID??? <--- Ah, damn it, why can’t I remember the name of this one?!! Wicked track!
6. “Brick House (L.B.'s Theme)” – Illuminatae <-- Such a wicked track (and all time fave!)
7. ID??? <-- piece of cheezy shite with “Dreamer” (Supertramp) sample.
8. “Feel The Panic” – Force Mass Motion <-- Annoyed me at the time, but yeah, I know, anthem blah blah anthem.
9. “Winner Is” – Southend (Great guys and girl, not sure if anyone but for Sameer (aka Pocket) is doing much these days).
10. “Good Morning Vietnam” – (artist: mission X or Apocalyps???) <-- forgotten this one???
11. ID??? (with the sexy “gonna do… gonna do… gonna do… whatever turns you on!” sample) Pretty intense stabs and squeals. Reminds me of my GF at the time who loved it.
12. ID??? (Some busy breakbeat number w/wailing diva).
13. “Never Lost His Hardcore” – N.R.G.
14. ID??? <-- What’s this?!!! “Can’t stop falling” lyric (rumoured to be Pet Shop Boys sample???), track featured on Paul Holden’s Wicked tape (’93). Would love to ID this after 13 years.
15. “I Need Your Lovin’” - N.R.G.
Side B:
1. “Take Me Up” – Southend (One of their best. Saw them first time live around midnight @ Happy Valley 3, on “that” property on the way to Goulburn. Became quite good friends with Steve over the few years that followed, then sadly lost contact. Anyone know what he’s up to these days?).
2. ID??? (Some chanty things, “Yeeeeeah” diva, and silly sped up male crap about “the beat groove, show us your dancefloor thing”).
3. “Do You Feel So Right?” – Love 4 Sale. ? Fond memories of the intro of this while the lasers panned across the grassy fields of Prodigy 4 (1993). Actually, I’m pretty sure I just made that up, though it suits the era. )
4. “To Love” – Fits Of Gloom. Classic, and magic memories of being caught ecstatic amongst laser tunnels to this tune at Freedom 2 a few months later. Now this memory is real, I promise!
5. “In the Name Of Love” – RTZ (Return To Zero) <--- What a TUNE this was in its day!! Classic, such a slammin’ piece of fine anthemology.
6. U Got 2 Let The Music – Cappella <-- Another fantastic track, though I could never track down which mix this was, with the massive tribal drums.
7. U Got 2 Let The Music – Cappella <-- reprise here, so cutting back’n’forth with a more regular mix over the mystical tribally version. At Prodigy 5 (1994), this track got the same “extended” treatment, going on for what seemed like ages. And yes, this really did happen too.
8. ID??? (with the cute female “Ahwahawahawahaaaa…” sample, and the not so cute Spanish-esque male “go go oh….” and “ooooweeeeee” interjections.
9. “Feel So Good” – THK (popular track, especially for the girlies).
10. ID??? (monk samples, female “whoahs”, interesting pizzicato string sequence. Would appreciate an ID on this one.
11. Camargue – CJ Bolland <-- Slap me if I’ve got this ID wrong. So many levels, plenty of depth… quality tune!
12. ID??? <-- Pearler of a tune, “You/Don’t take the rave???” sample.
Feel free to edit out my dribble when tweaking this list.
