Yeah I've heard the same. Apparently it's pretty big in Brisbane as well, though apparently they're more for the Gabber. I know one of the main dudes from Nu Energy moved to Adelaide about a year ago, AMS. I dunno if he plays out there, but it's pretty cool nonetheless

Somsad news taken off the lab4 home page

Well, it is definitely long over due that we put finger to keyboard and say Hi! It is unbelievable that we are already at this end of the year and discussing Christmas and New Years Eve gigs again.

The main reason for our contact though is to put pay to a bunch of rumors that seem to be spreading and growing, internet-wide about the future of Lab4……

At the beginning of this year we discussed our intensions of taking 2007 off to be able to recuperate physically and mentally, as well as to take stock of the past 15 years of our lives. We also felt that if we were to continue onwards with our music, that we need to be able to focus for longer without every studio session being disrupted by our gig schedule.

2006 has been a really hard year for us what with the endless delays with the None Of Us Are Saints album followed by being threatened with Legal action over a certain cover version, the Live Extreme productions in Japan and at Brixton Academy and all the extra planning, rehearsing and production work needed to pull off such big shows. After lots of soul searching and reflecting we have decided that it is time to call it a day with Lab4.

We have had an amazing trip with you all over the last 12 years, that has been a constant roller coaster ride of unbelievable highs and lows (mostly highs) that has taken us all round the world and put us in front of crowds of upwards of 15,000 in a single room, but we both know that the time has come to step off and let Lab4 be, and to move on to what ever maybe ahead for us both.

We will be playing live up until NYE which is being discussed with possible promoters at the moment and from there on anyone who is on our mailing list will be informed of what we will be up to into 2007.

We would like to thank everyone who has helped out in the Lab4 camp over the years, particularly Kym for keeping our website running and our calendar full, Ali and Lewy for all their help and support with the record store and for helping out as crew at gigs and Ian Shoesmith for all his help with our artwork. Also, thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years at gigs and via email, it has made all the difference.

Pharmacy is back, with what is described as "the nastiest serving to date". Melbourne's Pharmacy crew is responsible for putting on the hardest, dirtiest and craziest parties in Australia. Pharmacy is currently touring their latest event, "Reign in Blood", to coincide with this tour, Pharmacy has released their fourth compilation, mixed by resident DJ Hellraiser, and Japanese phenomenon Yoji Bomehanika.

The first CD is mixed by Pharmacy's pretty little hate machine Hellraiser. As with Yoji, Hellraiser is just as much a performer as DJ, constantly playing the hardest and darkest sets of the night and never failing to whip the Pharmacy faithful into an uncontrollable frenzy. How in hell does one then transfer all that energy and darkness onto one CD?

Once again Hellraiser accomplishes this task with ease, from the Welcome to Hell! Intro to the gabba finale of DJ Paul Elsatck's and Headbanger's "your mum sucks cock in hell". Its as hard, dark and twisted as any Hellraiser performance. Hellraiser has recently returned from the Netherlands, the home of hardstyle, and this CD reflects that sound, with contributions from DJ Zany, Dana, Luna and the Prophet. This mix is quite simply amazing, I could not pick a highlight, every track is dark, hard, yet individual enough to ensure the mix never become monotonous, brilliant, but definitely not for the faint hearted.

The second CD is mixed by the infamous Yoji Biomehanika, Yoji is hard dance royalty and is widely considered to be the best hard dance DJ on the planet, and is a favourite among the Pharmacy crowd.. Over recent years Yoji's sets and CDs have moved from the more melodic hard trance sound to the tech- trance and hard tech sounds. This CD is a perfect representation of this transition, just by looking at the tracklisting, it can be seen that the CD contains the current crop of tech-trance producers.

The CD begins with the Sander Van Doorn remix of TDR's Squelch, the CD moves to a typical eclectic Yoji choice of PG2 - Txtxe's Memory, a tech trance beginning that then lapses into a chilled out, easy listening solo, before returning to the tech bass line, very Yoji. Other highlights are the beautiful Fred Baker vs. Vincent Gorczak remix of Out of the Past - Mystery, the Qrious by System F the Remo-con remix was a surprise packet, after first hearing it, it did little to impress me, but the catchy melody stuck in my head all day, and quickly became a favourite on the CD. The second last track Yoji and Romeo Toscani's remix of Dave 202's Vulcania, is pretty good, it's recently become a stable part of Yoji' sets, and for good reason with it's groovy melody and nice electric guitar riff.

The last track is a typical Yoji production, featuring quirky vocals, bleeps and a nice piano melody. Personally I have never enjoyed tech trance or hard tech, it lacks the melody and the energy that other hard dance genre's create. Hence despite being a massive Yoji fan, I found it hard to really enjoy his mix. It had his trademark individuality in track selection, and an intelligent progression, but it just lacked the melody and energy that I've come to love and expect.

In conclusion, Hellraiser's mix, play it loud, play it very loud, and enjoy. While personally not enjoying Yoji's mix, it is done well, some nice tunes and kudos for pushing his sound in a new direction. Bring on the next Pharmacy party.

Hellraiser made Yoji look like a fairy at Pharamcy. He totally owned the show! One of his best sets I've seen.
