10 seconds? Come on... sure it takes that to move warp marker 1 in place, but I like to create a 16 bar loop and go through through the WHOLE track making little adjustments, then back again. And I warp against a common kick beat I always use, hard to do that live.
How do you do it?

Strange I can do Ableton sets on the fly if I need to with unwarped tracks. Takes about 10 seconds to warp em properly. |

I dunno, that seems prone to error. I mean ableton doesn't ALWAYS get it right... don't you still want to check it?
Still pretty similar to what I do, I just check the match against the kick... then I KNOW it's warped right.
Certainly beats the old way of manually warping the whole damn track though.
The real time consuming part of ableton is breaking up those tracks into nice useful loops.
For someone with a huge music collection, it can be daunting. But as long as you start doing it over time, it's not so bad.

Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and say my method is way better than yours. Sure I was exaggerating saying 10 seconds but definitely under a minute for sure most likely around 20-30 seconds.
All you have to do is load the track. Hit warp, manually enter the correct BPM, line up the first marker then go the the end of the track (this is what takes the longest waiting for ableton to process all the way to the end of the track)and line up the last beat but don't set it as a warp marker (leave it gray not green). |

to many pages on this thread to read through so can someone give me any advice.
i was going to buy SS but think it is too expensive and now i'm really interested in buying Conectiv. Is this for me???
i have a laptop 1.7ghz pentium M with 1GB ram. will it run on this setup?
also, i don't really care for using it live. i simply want to use mp3s through vinyl and maybe add a few effects. i mix house and dnb and very little turntablism stuff.
any advice appreciated...

Mikee, your PC have good enough specs to run Conectiv smoothly with no problem m8.

And you only have to do it once!

Yea, warping is real quick, as quick as setting up the tempo of a track if you know what you're doing, and doing it like Zild does, it's easy. |
