I had a great night. Sean Miller played a wicked opening set (**I've totally changed my mind btw... he's great! I think I just got a bad first impression from a couple iffy sets a while back). Demi's entrance was stylish, and i loved the mix of styles. True, it wasn't best I've heard from him, but his parties are always rockin'. Got to meet English Rachel around 3 or 4ish--great to meet you! I'd love to meet up with some more TAs sometime.

I had a ball in there... from the second I bumped into Cribby in the queue! (again) I keep seeing him everywhere now! Loved Demi, loved seeing soooo many people I know too. Only bad part of night was when Fairygodfather stuck a poppy straight into my boob!!!!

ouch. I forgive him.

Soo many cute men in combats, and funky looking girls all matching each other !

bunkers and bazooooookas....x

Did you take a good look at that BUNKER????? What a great job the staff did on the club that night and making me feel as if I was leading the front line in that booth last week

A huge thank you to Sonic and all the promotion teams that worked on the event and making me feel very welcome back at 270 spadina. And to everyone as well and all the new faces I met who all wished me happy birthday, I thought everyone played their part on the night to make it a fun night out for all involved. Great outfits by the girls too. Made me want to take u all back to the hotel with me for a proper bunkup./...lol

Interesting reading back on people's thoughts on the night. I will say on my part thAT in this very fickle industry you cannot ever please every person in the club and at the same time, as a DJ cannot be other than true to yourself in how you play and the music you believe in and want to put out.

Sat night along with the other nights leading up to this gig were plagued with technical problems for me and the new serato kit I had intended to use. The problems started in Montreal with my external drives completely packing up on me and resulting in loss of a fair amount of music files. I had worked myself up into such a state where I felt I was so ready to finally start playing off the laptop so for this to happen was a big personal setback as I have been fed up with the constant burning and labelling of CD's - so much time is spent and wasted on this when it could be best spent elsewhere - IN THE STUDIO. So for two frantic evenings before my gigs in NYC and then at Sonic this is what I was doing - literally reburning a whole cd wallet from scratch of new music, the new edits I had spent days on end preparing for the night and as many classics I had planned to unleash for the night. My only problem was running out of blanks at one point and also forgetting my mac charger in NYC - If i posted a picture up here of the state of my CD's in the booth on SAturday you would laugh (btw how do u post pics up here?)

Sat night was like any other night when I play - pure vibing from the first minute till the last. There wasn't one track in that set despite how I had partially planned the night off the laptop that wasn't either meant to be played or that I felt was not good enough. A lot of expectation I guess was on the night and how I was going to play, based on the previous times at Boa but to be honest, I never live in the past and my job as well as to entertain is to also fullfill my duty and try and make each musical experience a new one. It was ALWAYS be up and down musically with me moreso over a longer set ...it has to. I don't know about you but I simply cannot listen all night to minimial, or to techno, or to just straight up house. There is such a wealth of music out there that I just want to play as much of it as I can. It's all I do, it's all I know

I read on one of the comments that the set lacked any real melody - I have to disagree strongly on this opinion - Voyage by Subculture was played later on in the night and is almost 20 years old and is one of the most stunning pieces of music and vocals you are ever going to hear, WE GOT TO GET TOGETHER, and one of the current classics of our time by KING PIN CARTEL called GHETTO (I'm even leaking the bombs out for you lot).... how anyone can say this isn't pure house and melody needs to be shot and have their ears ringed out of all the junk they have been listening toOf course I never mind any criticism and love the fact that everyone does have an opinion on something - it really allows our minds then to sponge as much information as possible to ultimately get the best out of us so that we can be our best for others.

With the military ball theme idea, I did tend to lean heavily more towards a more primitive techno and tribal sound at times. Yes I guess I got fierce on everyone but what you see is what you get This is how I've been playing of late - a lot techier, a lot harder but by no means have I abandoned the mince and the fluff and tend to lean much more towards that and the more electronic bassline sounds and melodies towards the end of the night - for those who stayed with me till the end, I tend to get in this mood to reward for those who do stick it out with me.

On a personal note I had a great time at the club, the sound matched up to my expectations although the levels in the booth need of a lot more work to get it where it should be

BUt a credit to Carey and the rest of the Sonic team - you guys are a credit to Toronto and every patron who steps foot in that place.

apologies if this reads a bit random in places - i finally managed to surface from the 18 odd hour coma session from getting back - problem was i fell asleep on the couch and my neck is paying for it right now

one love to everyone thank you once again for making toronto feel like a 2nd home to me - i will be back at some point in 2007, probably in the summer as it is too fucking cold there in the winter....lol

ONE MORE THING - I URGE ALL OF YOU TO GO AND CHECK OUT my brothers Des and Omes at TIL next week on the 24th .

SOS is coming in a big way next year

Keep doing what you are doing, because as you said, you just have to stay true to yourself!

Who got their hands on the cd we were giving out earlier in the night? The 720 Sessions (I believe) is what it is called, live from Tokyo. Carey told me the story about how that mix came about, but I think Demster should dish the details. Apparently, it was after a gig - and Demi went back to his hotel with a bunch of young japenese folk and rocked out a party in his room! The two part mix is the end result.

I have got through the first 40 minutes of part one, and let me tell you - simply brilliant. The guy just weaves through melodic gems, piecing together disco elements, techy funk, and all other kinds of treats effortlessly.

I think the problem with many people on here is they may have been looking for that sound, something they have come accustomed to from him over the years (especially during his Boa tenure). But regardless, like Demi said - you can't please everyone.... and a harder edged set for a night that had a military theme does really make sense.

Demi - I have to say bro, it was VERY good to have you back home.... in the venue that in allows you to craft your music the way that it was mean't to be heard.

Can't wait 'til the next one.....

-Jeff
