What i'm trying to say, is ok. you can find okish tunes. But, damn, thats all there is to it. There is NOTHING exciting going on at the moment. EDM suffers a huge backlash. It seems that its huge mainstream exposure has done only bad to this music.

Well, I dont really listen to the more mainstrewam EDM so it doesnt really bother me.

Ok, thats what i'm trying to tell. That all EDM is affected. All is declined. The whole of EDM misses ideas. Except that if you think that sequences of electroish sounds coupled with the typical four-to-the-floor is something great. It's not its crap. Its all about being "cool" and "trendy". There is no fucking substance to this music anymore from the bloody "put your hands up for detroit"(and remember that mainstream reflects up to a certain point whats going on in the underground. Mainstream record in '99 was "El Nino". Cheesy? The hell to it, the lead-line was pure power! Now the famous record its "put your hands up for detroit". I'm ashamed that this piece of shit is called music) to the more "underground" Anandas. Ok, its minimal, its electro, its undergound, well the hell to it, its TRASH. Being cool doesn't change its low quality. Who cares about the hype when there is no substance to it? There is no more leftfield,Underworld F.S.O.L and Orbital in EDM. Now the best you gonna get is "Trentemoller", an artist that plays minimal and micro-house that was there from the 90s (chain reaction)and suddenly is considered to be ubber-cool by everyone! EDM is dying. Its the cold truth.

Check out Cobblestone Jazz - India In Me or the new Minilogue release Elephantīs Parade/Birdsong. Then come back and tell me if these arenīt at least a bit innovative (and great tracks as well).

I can't tell you what to like or what is and isn't of substance. That's for you to decide. I guess if you really feel like that's the case then I'm going to have to respect that, however I have no problem finding plenty of innovative, soulful, funky, music with loads of substance.

The first one was pretty bad. Ok what is so innovative about this thing? You call this quality EDM? With a bassline, a metallic drum and few gated samples fading-in and out? Being there doooneeee that...As for minilogue, to tell you the truth i haven't listened to the one you mention. But minilogue are good at doing pretty average boring pseudo-electroy-trendy EDM."Flavour-of-the-month" as they say. So, i don't have high expecations. But seriously if you call this quality...then OMG, just that.

Well, to me, it sounds like a great mixture of some sort of improvisation and careful production work on the track. Quite different from the stuff that gets released everyday.

YES they damn do!!!They will be forgotten in a month time...even by those who buy their records.Ofcourse you like them because you support this type of music, you buy digital downloads or whatever. But that doesn't change the fact that 18 out of 20 releases are shit! What can we do?Its just bad. You may "push" yourself to like this hyped crap but it has low quality. Its not my fault.

Is minilogue the cutting edge of now?

These are just two trance tunes from '92...

Wow...look at that, they seem to have a 15 year difference but these tunes from '92 sound more pioneering then the bloody minilogue and the other masterbating india thing that the other guy suggested! This says something about how EDM progressed...just look at Johny Digweeds new transitions and Johny Digweeds "GU: Hong Kong" or any 90s GU compilation for another example...i can really find you thousands...and this bloody pseudo-minimal electroy thing won't save the day. It will just make it worse
...15 years mate...15 years.

Minilogue have been making some good music for a while and I believe they will continue to evolve and make interesting tunes.

I could be wrong, but I dunno- I've been following them for a while and while they have had their misses, for the most part what they put out is quality imho.
