Cosmic Fur calling Danny Howells overrated is like someone who drinks wine casually trying a glass of 1787 Chateau Lafite and calling it overrated.

No, you're wrong because one Essential Mix doesn't do Danny Howells justice. There's more to Danny Howells than what you've heard on that Essential Mix.
I think this applies to ANY DJ, let alone someone with a sound as diverse and intricate as Howells.
Imo, u need to see a DJ live a few times as well as really deeply listen to his sets, to the point of feeling them, to be able to make a fair judgement.
To me, especially his EM, Howells is something to feel more than listen
Anything besides that is borderline speculation - nowhere near a fair judgement.

to add to the Danny Howells debate...
i myself have never really got into his stuff...
have always regarded him as a talent, but not my bag....
This year in Miami he did 2 exceptionally cool things:
1-held an abolsute 80's party with Lee Burridge at a Bar (not a club on the first night of the conference) no beats, no mash-ups, just straight 80's...no bubble gum either...the good stuff...Falco, Orchestral Manouvers in The Dark, The Fixx, XTC and much more..the vibe was awesome, and the egos were put aisde..great party!
2- he absolutely rinsed PAwn Shop (Miami Afterhours)
absolutely flawless programming, exceptionally chosen tracks...
and unlike many (i am not on pills when i attend these jams!)

I agree with Justin. It seems like this thread is all about preferences rather than what DJ is more overrated.

Sure this is a msgboard so personal experiences and musical preferences, but the tile of this thread is "Who is the most overrated DJ?" not "what DJs don't you like and what personal experiences have you had that made you think that?"
You're so "classic lisa"

So what do you want us to do? Look it up in the DJ almanac? It's a question which demands a subjective answer. lol ffs
whoa...totally didn't even finish that sentence off! oops
And yes, DJ Almanac is required. I ordered my 2007 copy yesterday.

Most of Toronto's electronic scene loves the HARD HOUSE, BANG BANG! BOOM BOOM! and for that reason i think that most believe DJs who do not perform to such expectations are shit. I say Mark Oliver is the most overrated DJ in the Toronto scene (no consistency in his mixing), while Tiesto is the most overrated in the world, he just doesnt care anymore. Others like Digweed and Sasha are really good, their music isnt HARD, but takes u through a journey, and their mixing is flawless..just cuz progressive isnt ur thing doesnt mean u should criticize legends who shaped this music scene over time
