P.S. Our world is very sick. I feel bad for the friends and families of the victims. And to the survivors that witnessed the entire thing. The victims are in a better place now gone from this disgusting world.

CNN's Pipeline is waiting for the briefing. You'll probably be able to watch the entire thing without the bullshit commentary here.

These kind of tragic events seem to be happening all to often!!!
When our parents were in school back in the 50, 60 and 70's shootings like this didnt occur.
What has happened to this countries youth since the beginning of the 80's?

Just a guess, but I have the feeling as soon as they identify the shooter the investigation will turn up an Xbox360 with Halo 2, Gears of War, Crackdown or any first person shooter for that matter. Not because the games have anything to do with the crime itself, but because someone will use it for their personal politcal agenda. What do you all think?

I hope that people are going to stop scapegoating entertainment for the real underlying problem. That guns are far to easy to obtain in this country. I think there is something wrong when I can walk into a WalMart special order a small arsenal of semi-automatic rifles, lazer scopes, 5 or 6 boxes of ammo for each gun, tonights dinner, a video game, new CD along with toilet paper and chapstick.

Just M2C

My heart goes out to the victims and their families.

Well I'm glad you've identified the real underlying problem for us. It's not that we have people who are so disturbed that they choose to go on a killing spree, the real problem is how easily they can get ahold of guns!

Wait, what did you say about someone using it for their own personal political agenda?

Strangely enough, such shootings occurred far less often when guns were far easier to obtain.

Not to assert the inverse of what you are asserting; I seriously doubt that the two factors are related in any strong way.

Hey guys, I'm student at VT and so far this is what I've gathered:

The shooter was a student from Radford, another university about 20 minutes away looking for his girlfriend. The first shooting happened about 600 feet from my dorm. Luckily everyone I have been able to contact is not hurt.

At about 10AM EST, he went into an academic building and killed over 30 people, some lined up execution style.

I slept through my first class so I never made it to class. I did talk to my friend who was in the class that I slept through. She said that they held the students in the building for a few hours and they could hear the gunshots.

What a horrible tragedy.

Uhh. That's absolutely terrible. I'm glad you're okay, though. My heart goes out to your classmates and their families.

Considering one of the Phelps' daughters in my class knew about this after we got done with lab this morning, I'd say the chances are highly probable. However, we've got a few big exams coming up, so she may not make it personally.
