I support him when he does good but he certainly deserved to be perma-banned for trying to take out TA. He did serve out his suspension for doing that, but I'm surprised that the only thing he was given for that issue was a suspension and not a perma-ban. Del fucking hates him, but Nou has managed to get around everything Del put in place to keep him out.

He's managed to get around everything that's been put in place against him. What else would you propose Del do? I've been pushing for the longest time for Del to reinstate having to approve users before they're given posting privileges because not only would that more than likely eliminate the Nou issue but it would get rid of the influx of spammers we've had since Del removed approval for new users. For some reason, however, he decided to neglect that option even though it's the most logical choice.

The only other options available outside of that are to either contact his ISP and have them warn him, or blanket-ban the ISP. The latter occurred in this case, so they've accomplished what they set out to do.

Really my main gripe with this issue is the method they used.

well ya it sucks mate, but seriously its just fucking annoying what he does.... i would of done the same thing to be honest.

The problem with this method (and IP-targeted solutions in general) is twofold:

1. You risk blocking legitimate users and
2. It's still easily bypassed using proxies.

Outside of placing restrictions on registration and therefore access, there is no way to prevent a savvy enough user from returning.

Since an IP-targed method isn't going to be effective anyway, and it may cause "collateral damage" then it is the very definition of a poorly conceived solution.

idoru: it be a mistake to admire his "ingenuity", its not that difficult to hid your ip. forums are vulnerable to this type of abuse and there isn't much admins can do to prevent it. ppl like you are the ones really to blame because you think he's not that bad and keep responding and encouraging him. i agree that new accounts should be subject to admin approval. i guess del doesn't want to go through all the trouble because of one douchebag.

if you really wanted to put a stop to this you'd send del his home and work info so we could contact both hand have his isp accounts suspended.

That's exactly what I'm saying. I'm not "admiring his ingenuity" because an eleven year-old can do what he did. I'm simply pointing out that he circumvented everything Del put in place and was asking what else Del could've done to keep him out.

And the approval system doesn't need to be put in place because of one person. It could've prevented the recent deal with Radagast and it would certainly cut down on the number of spammers we've been receiving.
