To the person arguing that Markus is better than Hawtin......really? Have you actually taken time to sit down and listen to DE9 or any of Hawtin's stuff? Regardless of style of music, Hawtin fucking blows Markus out of the water when it comes to the technicality of a set and track selection. Anyone mixing 6 different aspects of a track at one time is brilliant. Please find me set by Markus that shows him putting in more skill than any set done my Hawtin.

I would say that if your judging DJ's based on technicality and DJ skill alone this poll is totally fucked. The reason it's fucked is because you have about 60% of people voting who are only really familiar with the Top 10 DJ's on that list. Right now, Tiesto, AVB, PVD, Corsten, etc are all ranked high and will continue to be ranked high because they are most accessible to the masses. But just because you are the most accessible doesn't mean that you are the best.

I'd say this poll evaluates who the "best" is more than any competition of technical skill could. If being the best means you have the best qualities a dj should have, and hardly anyone knows who you are and/or doesn't like your stuff, how is that being the best?

Why don't you and all the other naysayers just come to terms with this? Technical skill doesn't make a dj.

That's kind of funny because I've probably seen at least 60 of the top 150 live and heard sets from probably 25-40 more, and i didn't vote this year because I could care less. Add to that the DJs that I've seen that aren't on the list, a few of which are rather striking (Jimmy van M, Jonathan Lisle, Christian Smith, and on and on if I wanted to think about it).

You'll tend to find that those best at things, like politics, are the ones who don't do as well. It's because they're working with insufficient or inaccurate knowledge.

I had this problem with the TA poll. People can vote based on track slection and order of tracks and how they are played out, or look into the technincal side of things and how the dj incorporates effects and smooth transitions.

I am glad armin made number one. He is a big part of helping spread EDM to the noobs with his satelite radio show, he has toured heavly this year, has been incorporating live keyboards (though only in euroep...asshole lol), and i havnt heard him screw up yet this year. PVD shoudnt be considered more technical than AVB because he knows how to play with ableton and can use a midi. I respect that out of him, but not everyone can play something live, so they make up for it in other ways.

I do think PVD should have been placed higher up. Many would disagree but i think ferry tiesto digweed and sasha could have lost some votes and those could have gone to pvd. Wasnt so pleased with those sets this year, and actually thought PVD had one of the best sets this year of all the years ive seen him.

Overall - glad psytrance is hitting hard still in the polls. Not as hard as others, in fact might have the least amount of djs, but it is the genre of edm least known throughout the world. It is massive in parts like japan and brazil, then unheard of in most.

And for those saying IM dont deserve their spot as djs... have you listened to the live stream? THat was killer. No fuck ups in transitions as some djs who only dj and dont do live sets. The tracklist was large. Big ups to those guys.

I had a problem with people saying this also. They call this a popularity poll. Well think about it. How does one become popular? How does a satelite show pick you up so the noobs can here you and stick with you as a favorite? How does a dj get gigs at a massive and then spread all around the world? How does a dj hire a promoter to help spread the word?

You must be above the rest to qualify anywhere in the top 250. Popularity junkies - those who stick to their dj from the past - makes only a small percent. Anyone could be the best dj at home, but it takes a real dj to make it throughout the world and spread his name. It doesnt happen in a day. None of the top 10 djs made it big over night or even a year. So all those saying popularity contests are dj polls, rethink the statements. How does that dj gain popularity is the way to think about it. And then, why cant the 251st dj get the popularity of dj number 250 or 100 or 1?

NICE! I heard him say an an interview he isnt the greatest at it. But i still havnt had the chance to even see the long haired keyboardist play a piece from armins tracks. Wish that would happen someday in the states - come tour with him or what not.
