I had no idea Canada had an immigration problem

I had no idea AustralianGQ thought he could form cogent thoughts.

This thread is a real eye-opener.

Where's my response from AustralianGQ? I feel so left out!

And yes, Diginut, I didn't offer much evidence; just like yourself I was merely playing with definitions but instead of keeping a narrow approach based strictly on theory, I was approaching the issue with a wider scope and looking more at the practical application of your suggestions (e.g. role of the Queen). I am well aware of the ratification powers of the Queen and the role of the GG in parliament, but all that is just nonsense in terms of the material activities that are involved in running this country.

Also, I'm not going to pretend to understand "anarcho-socialism"

I have no idea of the exchange between AJ and Malek, but I know both are actually excellent individuals in person. Malek is pretty abrasive but an excellent and generous host any time you're in Montreal. lol no need for me to get involved to "patch" things up but I have an urge to comment on people's character when I feel I personally know both of them!

ps. thanks for the gift, PKC!!! The gift that keeps on giving...LOL!!!

pps.

Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't even bother responding to a post like this. There are, however, I few things that I wish to address:

First of all, I didn't call you an idiot. I definitely said that you sounded like one in that post - and followed that up with the idea that I hoped what you had written was a temporary lapse in judgement.

I'm not sure what this has to do with anything, but since you are so interested - I didn't graduate high school at 16, but shortly after my 17th birthday.

But wow, now that you mention how beneficial finishing high school at 16 sounds... I wish I could take back my 4 years of university education and somehow try to complete my secondary level studies at 16! Maybe then I could aspire to the kind of linguistic knowledge that you possess, which gives you the ability to create sentences like: "I was born their." and "hoever thr topic is immigration."

I'm not too sure what menstrual cycles have to do with anything - but since you are such a fan of staying on topic, they MUST have something to do with immigration.
Perhaps you could further pursue this seemingly revolutionary connection in your post-secondary studies next year.

In the meantime, I would suggest consulting www.dictionary.com to help you define words such as "colonization", "ignorant", and "idiot".
Unfortunately, that won't help you with your apparent inability to properly use the comma, the apostrophe, nor will it help you to distinguish between there/their/they're (I know that's a tricky bunch - they all SOUND the same!)

I would offer you my help and suggest that you take part in some ESL classes that I tutor - but that might not work out very well because you'd have to sit next to other immigrants - and some of them are all scary and not white and might make you feel uncomfortable.

PEACE

Also, bringing up the fact that the guy is in highschool, and other petty tactics are pretty lame ways to debunk his arguments.

lol, not that i'm necessarily trying to defend Anna, or myself (because i whole-heartedly pointed out this guy's spelling mistakes), let me remind you that:
1) he was the one who mentioned that he was smarter than Anna, or whoever, because he finished high school at 16 and is moving to secondary education soon
2) he is trying to make a concise, educated (wtf, does that even exist on the intarwebz?) argument about something he disagrees from the rest of us. The least he could do is TRY to come across with his writing as appropriately smart...

but you're right, it's not the matter at hand, but he asked for it with his comments on how brilliant he was.

You're referring to Canada? What free education exactly? Oh, you mean our amazing public schools, that are free up to the point of post-secondary education, and that have standards and test scores that continuously rank amongst the lowest in the world...

Ok, forgive me bitterness there, but I think its important to note, although it is off topic, that the 'free' education in Canada, even in Canada is worth very little. And most European countries, along with many in the middle-east, asia, and so forth, offer free POST-SECONDARY education...

Anyways..

Why not? If he has any intellect at all, he'll either get the point, or have another clever rebuttal. Most of the other arguments pointed out at him had their self-justification based on his poor spelling, and not actually a logical reply to his comments...so Ania, thanks for the well crafted reply.

Hmm, this isn't exactly that great. I'm doing a year of school in France this year, and universities here (with the exception of the grands écoles which can actually cost a lot of money) are free. However, even though the school I'm going to is supposed to be a really good business school in France, I feel the quality of education here I'm getting is much lower than I get in Canada. I hear a lot of North American students studying in France complain about this.

My university education in Canada is fucking expensive, but I certainly get what I pay for. I'd much rather pay the amount that I do and get the education that I get in Canada than pay nothing and get the education that's available here in France.

Did it sound like I was comparing Canada to Finland??? I think I know what type of education system Canada has. And yes, some parts in the world have better (hence why I'm capitalising on my Dutch passport for my doctorate), but really. This IS off topic. Try going to the school in Haiti that my mom teaches at. Or in Malawi, Tanzania..Kenya (I realise there are countries that might further prove my point, but I have more intimate knowledge on the schools there)
