There are some legality issues with doing that - and I would never be able to come up with the same quality

I'm curious as to what "legality" issues you're talking about?

On top of that, I edit tunes all the time using nothing more than the source audio file - and the sound quality loses absolutely nothing.

This has to be my least favorite Sasha tune off the new emFire label. I loved Coma and Mongoose but this one just doesn't move me...

As far as I understood, he was referring to me re-editting the original clip (from myspace or wherever it was - I can't recall and am too lazy to look back) and playing it out - that's not exactly legit. I may have misunderstood though, and if I did, by all means let me know.

All that said, I have no idea what AL stands for - so it might completely change my understanding

[/sounding really stupid & clueless]

As long as you aren't trying to sell it there's nothing that isn't "legit" about it.

I wouldn't be comfortable playing reconstructions and whatnot in my sets personally; maybe it's just me.

That's really weird. Every DJ I know edits every track they have to fit their sets better. Whether it's changing the intro/outro, or taking some samples out via looping or whatever. It's pretty common

I'm not talking about editting something you buy to work better in your sets - that I do regularly. I'm talking about myspace/set rips that get editted to play in sets (again if I misunderstood the original post, feel free to correct me here).

Edit: I'm an idiot, the original sampler on BP has that intro, I could probably edit this in! Cheers for the idea, I must be completely out of it today

I'm not ambitious enough to edit everything - well, maybe I am ambitious enough, but I also get high, so sometimes tracks slip through the cracks.

My god your a cheap low life scum if you don't want to pay under £2 for a track that took 3-4 guys hours to produce, then master, then distribute and press on vinyl. Cheap skate. Go rip off some other industry.. on no wait you probably do.

Thank you for not understanding what they were talking about. I'll go ahead and explain it for you...

The track that is for sale does not have the "ambient" intro that people had previously heard. It's not available for purchase at all. They are contemplating editing the ambient sample that is on Myspace onto a legally purchased track that does not have the ambient sample.

Keep up with the thread next time.

Dude when I have enough time to read entire threads on all the message boards I post on i'll be worried my career is stalling. Sorry to jump the gun but I hate piracy in any form and whilst editing rips from people's myspaces, why not also message the artist begging for a full, Hi-Q release? Sorry for my short temper but my passion for this should be obvious and the amount of arses on this board who haven't paid for music in years is shocking. Sorry if you thought I was lumping you in the same basket.
