Exactly.
Magazines, songs, television, media, advertising, etc... All of it merely perpetuates our culture of happiness, where people are encouraged to live overindulgent lifestyles and feel and look only the ways in which they are told. Is it a new thing? Certainly not. But it keeps people in these cycles so that they do nothing but keep on consuming, and that irritates me. I really wish I knew why.
Am I saying that love is a bad thing? Certainly not. I feel quite the opposite. I am, however, quite skeptical of most people's "love", as I have seen it as nothing more than naivety and wanting all too often. Love isn't something you make happen. You can't just one day fall in love. That's why it's so fucking rare. But people try to force it and irritate it and make it more than what it is. They imitate ritual in hopes of garnering feelings of desire and mating appeal - which they may very well succeed in, but that's really not love, in the pure sense, if such a thing even exists. It's still just imitation.
