Clearly, we did.

I mean, as my man +On+On has pointed out, anything can be justified via that logic. We evolved to eat meat because we figured out how to make spears and kill animals. How did it get to raising them en masse just to have them slaughtered? That is absolutely un-natural, and strictly of our own doing. |
We evolved to eat meat because that's what the animals be evolved from we eating. That's why your teeth are shaped the way they are.
Spears are just tools to make that easier.
If it were practical for all of us to have our own private livestock and farmlands to sustain ourselves, we would never have developed into the advanced society we have, we would have continued to live in blissful isolation. There would be no McDonalds, no cities, no infastructure, no advanced medecine, no TA. So unless you can figure out a way to feed the 350 million people in the US without some kind of centralized food production and mass slaughter, we're kind of stuck. Luckily, if Star Trek has taught us anything, it's that in a few hundred years we will be able to program a computer to create sustinence from raw matter and all the chickens can live happily out in the wild, being slaughtered by foxes.

Btw, I eat meat too, but I don't think its a right, I think its fucking horrible. But the ease and convenience and my incredible lazyness and lack of compassion for livestock and chickens from industrial farms mean I don't care.

Well, there you go.

The original point was, Mr. AustralopithecusGQ here is trying to lecture everyone on morals without having given the inherent contradiction in his way of thinking any thought (much how he approaches pretty much everything else). If you consume meat daily then killing 1 puppy for no fucking reason is really a drop in the bucket. |
Absolutely right. But there are places (like Yohan's house) where puppies are food (...sorry Yohan, had to!)
The key thing here is the disconnect. Our society sees dogs as pets, not food, so you should have a problem with that...like trying to order a steak in Bombay, only in reverse.
If I needed the money, that puppy dies. Look out for #1 above all else.
As I said before, I've killed all kinds of creatures in all kinds of ways for training purposes and food. Was it totally nessecary? No. However, I ate what I killed so that keeps me in harmony with nature and I won't feel bad about that.
Just out of curiosity, what kind of puppy. I think an ugly one would make it easier.
