Yeah I would. I've already turned down gigs paying far, far less because I didn't think the music I play would suit.

If I wanted to make a lot of money DJing it would be pretty easy to just start playing crap.

Sooo...how's that not apply to Tiesto? How would anyone know whether he's lost passion for music or not? An opinion on style and type of music and performance is different than having passion for what you're doing. He my have plenty of passion, he's making more than a reasonable amount of money and...yeah he travels...just a little.
I guess you can throw the sell out card...you know...he plays addagio just to give people what they want...well...I'm sure he plays stuff they don't know or want quite a bit but what are you gonna do? Dissapoint a couple thousand people by not giving them what they came to hear?

Exactly, but once you admit you're just a puppet, there isn't really a passive way to go back is there.

Still a difference between puppet and crowd pleaser. Iono...there is a line to cross. Not sure if Tiesto has quite crossed it yet. Armin on the other hand...

You always chose your audience. He just knows which one brings in the most money.

meh. Personally I think he's progressed in what he does without leaving what he does. Because tons of people like it is not his fault. Because tons of people are expecting to hear him drop is famous track is not his fault. I'd like to actually see him and see what other stuff he drops along with his well known ones. If people all the sudden started digging what you were doing and it got popular, would you stop doing it or switch to something less popular? It's nearly impossible to know someone else's motives. Makes for interesting conversation anyway.

I think he thinks he is extremely successful and delivers exactly what he wants to the people who want it.

I just would not like to be Tiesto. Ever. At all.

LOL...fair enough! I wouldn't either. I may like his mixes for the most part but I hope I would never commercialize myself so much. I don't think I could. Once I heard addagio for 100th time that would be about all I could stand.

Which comes back to my point about success.

Where he is at and who he is is a far cry from what I would consider success.
