disagree. some music is designed for high volumes. most commercial recordings are created for shitty speakers & sound extremely harsh when played loud.
since when is our music commercial.
I can see if it was mastered on a shitty laptop, which can/is becoming bad..
Otherwise, that makes no sense... he obviously didnt mean the newest Timberlake single/Kanye shit mashup.

After listening...I'm afraid to say that was a complete and utter waste of my bandwidth...most of the music sounds like it was made inside a kettle. If I was on a night out and a club played music like that, I think I'd be out the fucking door after 2 minutes...
But each to his own
Lets consider the fact that watergate opens for up to 12 hours at a time, this is a snippet from that night, probably quite an early set so its good for warm up stuff for people arriving to the club. maybe it's not the best for home listening, but I liked it - pronsato is a great prodcucer.

I can only go by what I hear...I can appreciate that some people like this style, but it's far too dull for me. There's not enough going on in any of the tracks, and they all same to use the same kick and bass.

Less an excuse and more a fact of the setting.
Some people get it, some don't.

yep we are missing eachother slightly .. by "commercial" I actually meant like 20th century pop/rock and I guess also contemporary rock music. I was using it as an extreme example of something poorly designed for high volumes but possible to appreciate on almost any soundsystem, a quality that minimal barely has at all (I'd argue that minimal requires heavy sound to be appreciated even more so than other edm)

good thing we're on the same page.
Yes, the loudness war in commercial pop/rock radio realm is horrible.
"Clearly" not a way to experience wonderfully mastered audio.
That moonbeam mix was alright, but clearly that poster has a different interpretation. i heard some techno SOUNDING stuff in there
