So, Kismet7, how many regular trance nights are there in LA? If you wanted to find a trance club and a house club, which one would be easier to find there? How about a trance club versus a hip hop club? And if you were in Germany, would it be easier to find a techno party or a trance one? If you were in France, would it be easier to find a house party or a trance one? The only countries where you might have an easier time finding trance nights would be the Netherlands and UK -- and maybe not even there.
Does that tell you anything, or are you still going to harp on the fact that Tiesto and Ferry can still draw a big crowd because they never stopped running on momentum from the dot com bubble days? |
In LA we have a fairly equal representation of trance, house, and techno. Not counting OC and SD, just in LA there are two big clubs that cater more often to Trance (Circus and Arena.) There is 1 big club that is dedicated to an assortment of Trance and House (Vanguard with Ferry Corsten this week), there 1 big club that is dedicated to House and Techno (Avalon with insane lineup forthcoming.)
The big non club events are dedicated to Trance with some House, Electro, and Techno support.
Now there are countless small clubs that dont make a dent towards popularity, and they are mostly house and some techno. Because you cant really blast trance in a bar or small club setting consistently, the night would not work from a business and culture standpoint. People go to socialise and drink, not hop around to Trance. So, the outnumbering on the small venues that play House/Techno is a product of more than music quality, it is logically and culturally more sensible to have house / techno or slower bpm music for small more social venues.
That said, topic is popularity of music right? Trance still pulls more people out of their homes. When you throw in the Massives and Festivals, Trance has more listeners in LA.
With that said, LA's electronic scene is healthy all around, it is not as romantic as Europe (it can be on certain nights). We have a lot of choices, a bit spoiled. If you go to the West Coast board, just 1 clubs output for May and June is INSANE. On various ngihts, Luciano/Jamie Jones, Claude Von Stroke, Behrouz/Seaman, Damian Lazaurus/Mandy, Steve Lawler/Lee Burridge, Danny Tenaglia just off the top of my head. Goin to the Luciano and Jamie Jones night myself, cuz i've yet to see Luciano. Seen everyone else a few times.
So in LA we get everything, its pretty balanced, and easy to find anything you want to be honest. But we are more upfront than other cities in America, so don't take LA as an example of House or Techno being highly sought after.

Go look at any site that's up to date, and find me one that still sells single core audio PCs or Macs. I'll give you one example of a site that sells PCs for audio work purposes. http://rainrecording.com/
People won't make reason compatible vsti because the "routing" you do in reason is just a gimmick. <--WHAT?
You just said two diffrent statements in one sentence, which doesn't make any sense. What the f**k did you get in English?
The routing in Reason via cables has its own unique purpose. They didn't put it there for you to just look at. Has no basis of how real DAWs work? Propellerhead never claimed Reason to be a full DAW. Their goal was to be innovative and create something that allows you more to focus on music making and less time with mouse clicks & tool boxes. And if you're referring to lack of audio recording, why do you think they created 're-wire'. You can make all your synth sounds with reason and add vocals and vsts with cubase for example. BTW, they just released 'record', which allows audio recording and integration of Reason instruments.
The synths in reason aren't mediocre. You just suck at programming sounds, that's all.
BTW, I listened to your album and the ones on that link. Your music is worse than Tiesto's. So, for someone who despises Tiesto's tracks, but he himself makes worse shit, you should pay him more respect. |
Again, do you have any evidence that most producers use audio based PCs? No, Most producers, IE, most people who use cubase fl or ableton or what ever. Are bedroom musicians. Most of them have that dell or gateway pc that they use to game on and do other things. Your assumption that all, or even most, artist use gear specific for audio production is false.
Propeller head didn't try to make a program for "other purposes" they tried to make a daw like FL or cubase, and they failed, they flat out, without a doubt, failed. They produced a crappy piece of shit program, with a graphical gimmick to pull people in. Reason is a toy, at best. Coupled with no VSTi support, crappy built in synths, and the ened to "rewire" it with another daw. Make it a failed DAW.
The fl 3osc with the fl FX can produce anything reason could hope to muster. Its just... oh my god, reason fails. LMMS or modplug could produce better songs. Reason is to music production software, what the N-Gage was to successful handhelds. No where near it.
Sure you listened to my music and thought it sucked, that sure means a lot when you are arguing with the artist. Of course you will think it blows. Which is why slapping your ePenis around in a debate is fail.

through the fractal used a sampled kick from sampleswap. and the clap was just a basic 808 or 909..i forgot. yeah the clap doesn't fit with the song, sadly I don't have the project files anymore, so I cannot fix it.

What makes some people excel?
I'd say attention to EVERY detail, and not everyone has this capacity.
For example there are about 100,000 chefs in the UK, but less than a 100 got a michelin star. Why is this, when they all can study the same recipies?
There is a ton of people that want to kake nusic but far less who will slog it for years striving for that perfect sound. My brother is just such a person - he will call me and say he's just laid down a banging tune, but after that he gets bored as he just wants it all made and done in a few hours. Im reality all he has done his a few modifications to some presets, added some basic fx and hey presto he expects a hit.
HONEST FEEDBACK
Here in the UK we have this TV show by Simon Cowell called the X Factor (in the US its American Idol) and everyone of the thousands of hopeful singers has this notion they can really sing, yet very few can.
So I ask myself how is it all these non singers think they have the x factor, and the simple truth is none of thier freinds or family have given them honest feedback.
Its the same with some forum types that tell everyone they love thier music, but this cant be true so I wonder why they do this because it gives the producer a false impression of thier talent level so they wont improve. Sure give constructive critiscism, but thats not the same as saying 'good work' to everyone when u know full well you would not pay to down load the tune.

I never said most people use specific gear for audio production. Those who are serious about their music will most definitely upgrade their computers to the standard in the market today. Why? Because, it allows for more freedom to make music without having to freeze track, bounce to audio, everytime the cpu hit is high.
My evidence with that website was to show multicore in today's standard of 'DAW PCs' are essential, due to cpu hungry synths that are being marketed such as NI Massive, or Omnisphere.
Propellerhead failed with Reason? Tell that to Daniel Kandi, Robert Nickson, Hydroid, Groove Invaderz, etc... I could go on and on with names. And last I remember, your music made on FL sounds so much worse than those artists I mentioned. So, in truth, you fail. Just admit it. You have no skill at production & that's why you make up for your lack of skills with a big ego & ignorance.
