"Couldn't care less" is another one. People putting no thought into what they're saying, because it's easier to copy what everyone else is saying. Osmosis of idiocy right there.

Yeah, that one's just been around so long it's accepted at face value and I doubt most people even think about it, which isn't a terrible thing. The meaning is what counts, as with all language. Still, it's fun to point out little things we do and don't even recognize imo.
I always took "same difference" as an unspoken recognition that it negates itself, but that's its appeal. Who knows if others see it the same way though.

i agree but i think they kind of make sense, in a fucked up way. "tomatoes or tomahtoes?" "i dunno, same difference." as in, the differences between the two are the same (being that each are pronounced differently)

also, "couldn't care less" for me = "i could not care any less for the subject at hand" = i didn't give a shit before, and i don't give a shit now; in fact, i care so little about the subject that it isn't possible for me to care any less than i do atm. saying "i could care less" to me implies that you care about the subject but wish you didn't. "i care about this subject, but i wish i could care less about it"

slang is awesome here, you can confuse out of towners with a few words and talk about them without them knowing what you're saying. Some words mentioned in here however are pretty annoying.
