Sorry Kristina, I mis-calculated, I owe you another $10
And ya, just like Cam said, they brought around about 3-4 pounds of wings that no one ordered, then someone would just say they'll take it, I think they did that for a few beers as well.
And tbh, the entire time we were there, we didn't see "someone" pay, so unless they paid at the end after us, I'm not gonna mention any names. But $67 is alot, I'll make up for another $10 of that since I know that was my fault, sorry again Kris, you're wings are on me next time
It was nice to see everyone again though, outside of the club. We def need a new place though, as much as the wings are good!!
Oz and I went to some place on King and Bathurst I think... like one of the oldest pubs in Toronto. Last time we went they were showing a Leafs vs North Stars game from 1980

No restaurant will give separate bills to 20+ people. Some will do groups of 4 or 5, but not a tiny place like C&D when everybody is moving around. I don't really fault them for that. I fault them for their generally lousy service, impossible-to-read bill, non-voiding of canceled items, and blatant scamming (i.e. calculating service charge on the after-tax amount).
Even still, a few more things had to happen to be more than $100 short. Some people forgot the tax and/or service charge, and at least one person either stiffed completely or didn't pay for something expensive (like a pitcher).
The more people you have in total, and the more spread-out the times that people leave, the worse it seems to get at the end of the night. Sushi night worked out really well because it was a small group (~10 people?) and most of us left at the same time.
Assuming you can't control the group size and you're stuck with one big bill, the best strategy is usually to have anyone leaving early settle with the cashier and bring back the receipt. Absolutely NO dropping cash on the table and taking off, no matter how generous it seems. It's not just to help find out if somebody stiffed - it also tells you if the restaurant is ripping you off (i.e. if there are several unexplained items on the bill).
So yeah, I know it's not up to me but I say next time should be any or all of:
- New venue
- Physically separate tables, if not separate bills
- Everybody gets a receipt before leaving.
