For me phonics are everything. Its got to roll off the tongue just right. Equally important, if someone I don't like has the same name its a deal breaker. Doesn't matter if its the most beautiful name in the world. I really like the sound of Japanese names and it also has the added bonus of no negative associations since I don't know any Japanese ppl, except for those jerks on that whaling ship, and even then I don't know their names. For that matter any foreign language has that appeal, like listening to song in a foreign language, helps you appreciate the sound, much like opera. And made up names your starting with a clean slate with no negative associations.
