I think the US is right on....I would warn my citizens to stay away from Toronto to. Hell, I suggest anyone who works anywhere close to downtown take the week off....its going to be hell in toronto

I got a memo from work today regarding the G8/G20. Mississauga Transit has 2 route that service the Pearson Airport infield where all the VIP's and Celebraties are escorted away, (they dont usually go throught the main terminals). Routes 57 and 59 will both have heavily armed military and police officers onboard. They will check the passes of every rider on the bus from the start to the finish of the route on top of the security posts on the Brittania and Courtney Park entrances to the infield. There will also be check points set up throughout the infield itself, and when a convoy is departing or arriving, the traffic in the infield will be closed all together causing massive delays.

So glad so few people can disrupt the lives of so many. I would laugh so hard at the government for wasting all this time and money if there was no violence whatsoever, it would really make them look foolish.

I hope there's not a repeat of the UK subway bombings over here like it happened during their summit.

Since I live out in Mississauga I'm not even going to attempt to make it into the city Fri, Sat, or Sun of next weekend. It'll be my first time not going out in many weeks.

Ah, but that's the catch 22! If all this security does its job, the pubic will NEVER know about any attempt of violence/terrorism. Such attempts are not publicly disclosed.

I don't think any of us backseat drivers can fully appreciate the security issues with the summit. I don't agree with the summit itself, but if it's going to happen, we damn well better be prepared.

I was thinking that at first, but really, there is a reason security is this high. It's not only 20 political leaders, but in town are also some of the world's top business leaders and other relevant participants. For anyone who wants to make a serious statement, this weekend in Toronto is the biggest time to do it.

Seattle in 1999, the UK last year - it's a big deal.

The protest school/people's summit does not discourage violance... kinda sends an obvious meaning that there will be blood.

http://toronto.ctv.ca/servlet/an/lo...=TorontoNewHome

I predict they will be quick in blaming agents provocateurs for the shit disturbing they are going to do. The cops got busted for doing this in Quebec, so they may make up their own and blame the cops... the perfect scapegoat scenario.

Protest organizers admit that there will be anarchists there too, but will do nothing to discourage them.

the fences creep me out. The heavy police presence down there is even creepier. Even early last week - I was surprised by the amount of police walking around, driving around, and hanging out in groups just watching people. I've never felt uncomfortable around police - but over the past week I've seriously felt as if I was being watched closely while walking by.

I hope things stay in-control. If anything does happen - I can't imagine a Torontonian causing major problems. We love our city far too much.

I'm staying out of the downtown core till it's over.
