but thats just it..i also argue he has the book type of knowledge. I just have a feelin he regurgitates something he heard or an article he read. I really dont think he has any of his own knowledge. How can he? no experience, hes never took any formal education in ANYTHING, he just reads ebooks and his video game instruction manual

Nou, is that Wiki the main web presence for the project? If so, you should probably get someone to edit it. There are lots of spelling / usage errors.

I know! Its annoying, I need to clean it up. There is a lot of contributions from non-native english speakers on it. I have not contributed a lot to the content of the wiki (much to many peoples annoyance).

You realize that a lot of military knowledge is theoretical till it is put in practice, in fact, besides the last 10 years a lot of doctrine in the US military was based on little experience, and more theoretical and taking history and other countries lessons into account.

If you read some of the field specific journals (my favorite being Field Artillery Magazine) from around the end of the cold war you can see a lot of this type of learned or expected knowledge and how rapidly it can change.

I read a good piece from the Jan. 1990 issue about how mortars were useless because we will never fight an enemy again that is dismounted (and they will only dismount within ~500 meters, too close for effective indirect fire from mortars). Skip ahead 1 year and the same journal is talking about the importance of LIC and accurate and small fires to minimize collateral damage against civilians.

If you look at Iraq and Afghanistan there is now a huge amount of indirect fire support from mortars because of the ranges involved and the amount of fires needed, and the fact that insurgents are 99.99% of the time not in armored APC/IFV but dismounted or in Suzuki pick-ups and Renaults where HE rounds will easily be effective on them.

All I am saying is that studying previous history or tactics is how new tactics are thought up, but you are right, experience does matter, because most of the time huge portions of those tactics go right out the window (and written down for others to learn).

This is even different than what this thread was originally posted about.

I heard the booms from said military exercises. Today I also went to the Imjin River which borders N. Korea. Along the river there were armed Soldiers posted looking across into N. Korea. After dark you could see across into the darkness of their side and how "our" side was still brightly lit.

Knowing what was going on today I anticipated a phone call bringing me back into work, but that did not happen. Since the shannigans that happened on Nov 23rd we have had hellish schedules keeping up with all the potential countermeasures on "our" side. I don't want anything to happen, it's too f'ing cold.

While the US helps out S.Korea. They should just go all out and help out India with Pakistan and Bangladesh.

It be a very merry christmas to all, with fewer people on this planet.

How about we just bring on a full nuclear war, we all die. Saves us all the trouble of trying to solve other peoples problems and our own. No more debt, famine, cholera and other crap.
